They used the wording of the bill to basically ban anything they determine looks visually ominous. You can still buy a semi-automatic carbine that works exactly like the AR-15, just without the scary military style design.

Seems political to me, though don't particularly care either way, getting firearms out of the public domain is good in any amount.

I mean, if it's the way the guns look feeding into getting the losers dick hard and winding them up to going rambo, I guess that's something we need to address in addition to just rounds per minute.

Maybe we need to mandate that all guns be pink. It won't stop this guy.

I considered that as well and that's why I'm not really complaining in the end. The nutcases that are spree killing people probably will be affected by this.

I think most sane people just don't want "assault style" weapons in the hands of civilians as it isn't necessary and they don't want people that are mentally ill to be allowed to get them.

If people don't have ready access to deadly firearms, then police no longer need a pressing need for deadly firearms either. That's how descalation works. As an added benefit, less firearms means less suicides and accidental children killing themselves because papa forgot to buy a proper lockbox for his phallic object.

Nooooo, this doesn't seem right. The only way you can protect yourself from getting shot is to shoot the other person first. Removing guns from society isn't going to do that

I am kind of "eh" about this because the alternative to an NRA that wastes the money it is given is an NRA that spends it efficiently.

There was and probably is demand for a gun advocacy organization. Blank slating the NRA is overdue, but the problem is the people willing to support its agenda.
