If you're willing to eat a Mythril to win, you could always purposely sacrifice your first run. Use your first run to live as long as possible and build up SB's (Don't use any / use as few as possible). They carry over if you Mythril/Gem a retry, so you could start the second try with ~2 SB gauges already built up.

It's a last ditch thing really but it's always an option if you don't mind eating 1 Mythril and your synergy is shitty. Not sure if SB carrying over to second attempts is common knowledge as I never see it suggested (I know winning first try is the ideal solution...)

Do you have Wall? If so, you can pop my RW for a quick 20k. I only needed two to overwhelm Ruby when I mastered.

It's worth noting that Magic Lure does work here, so you may want to consider Cecil for Bracing Bash if you have him leveled.

Does anyone know how much 'Moderate Fire Resistance' gives?

I have the IV synergy armor that gives Moderate Fire Resistance and it's 3++. But the RES on it is really shitty even at full synergy so not sure if it would be worth using over a high RES piece.

Is there a reason you have Retailiate on Cloud? Rubicante uses spells so you'd be better off with more spellblades. Do you have a second Blizzara Strike honed? A second Watera Strike? I would think those would serve you better than Drain Strike/Retaliate.

Not sure what weapons you have available, but I used Zidane with Steal Power & Tempo Flurry. With that plus FB he was hitting for around 5500-5600 per attack (around 11,000 per ability use) and would free up a slot on Tyro to put Full Break in. I have a good 5* IV sword for him to use, though (shared SB Stoneblade).

In that case I'd drop Squall (since you said he's your weak link) and put Watera Strike on Cloud or put in another BLM splitting Waterga/Blizzaga and Waterja/Blizzaja between the two.

Have you also considered using Aura as your RW to take care of shell and having a strong regen to help your healing? I've used that to cheese past a few fights as I don't have any of the holy trinity of SB's to use in my party, so I'm pretty Melee heavy. For Rubicante my setup will probably be Cloud/Squall/Sephiroth/Rinoa/Lenna and Aura RW.

Reta wasn't really meant as a go-to, just more of a, "He's down to a sliver and everyone else is gassed" thing. Like I said before, pretty sure I have the damage to take him out. It's just surviving even with 2 SS and SG. Might try setting Cecil to be tanky, but I'm still gonna be RNG's bitch here.

You're using SS2 and you have SG naturally? Use Boon RW. If you're having trouble taking him out in time then haste + shell is an obvious choice. Have 3+ casts of Wall isn't what you're looking for since they don't stack.

Wound up bailing on my last and swapping Squall for Cecil with BB/ML. To be honest, he was kinda dead weight until the last phase and useful only if Rubi decided to triple-cast Firaga. Used LH for my RW, but kinda settled since it was haste. Honestly should've done Boon and put Regenga on Lenna. Same build, otherwise, minus Squall's Watera Strike on Cloud for Reta. Spacing out SG was tight since Tyro had two other important tasks, too.

Now to get Dark Cecil's RMIII. :/

I beat it but 4/5 died. Going to have to go back with a defensive RW (probably Lenna's heal) instead of an offensive one (used Kuro's Squall. The 40k was nice but the damage at the last 10% or so became a lot to keep up with). Suppose the cloak will help on the second pass through too.

I'm pretty sure moderate gives 30% resistance. You will see a red "resist" pop up on the character when the element is used on you. It doesn't stack either.

Why Paladin Cecil and not Warrior of Light? I understand Pecil gets RS but WoL's SB stacks with everything so gives him a bit more sturdiness and offensive fire power.

Really it's a shame Celes doesn't have Knight 4.

Just an fyi that it is possible to master +++ if you forget to take any sort of magic b/d. Didn't even notice til ~40% and said screw it and took him down.

I usually look ahead to see what characters are getting their MC2 soon and then run them through the Sundaily weeks in advance to get them to 65. If you're just playing the game casually though, P. Cecil probably isn't in your "A Team."

Mine was level 1 2 weeks ago. He's now 66.
