What is the best method to master these? I have always had the benefit of needing to cap out the character in the Sunday dungeons beforehand but Lightning has been capped a while and I would hate to give up all that exp. I have been told rerunning the event 99 trash is pretty good for this. Any other methods?

yeah, just take them solo through the 99 trash and you'll master it pretty quick. iirc you get like 3000 points or so with the synergy bonus.
