    Powerless (NBC) - Canceled

A "The Office"-like comedy set at an insurance company somewhere in the DC Universe
hat's what makes the concept of Powerless so exciting, and it's been confirmed today that NBC have given the drama a pilot order. Described as The Office with superheroes, it's going to be set firmly in the DC Universe and is being written by Ben Queen (Cars 2). The official description reveals that it's set in a world, "full of superheroes, villains and people just like us." It adds that Powerless is going to be, "an office comedy about the exceedingly average employees at an insurance company and their quest to find their own power." Whether we'll see any familiar heroes and villains show up remains to be seen, but this definitely has some potential, and will likely air on NBC this Fall if things go well.

Report: NBC's DC Sitcom POWERLESS Adds SERENITY, COMMUNITY & A TO Z Alums

DC's live-action sitcom Powerless has added three more topline actors according to Deadline: Firefly's Alan Tudyk, A to Z's Christina Kirk, and Community's Danny Pudi. Additionally, the Hollywood trade has descriptions of all three actors' characters, as well as series star Vanessa Hudgens.

Hudgens will reportedly play an insurance claims adjuster named Emily Locke. She's described as someone who "loves her job because she gets to help people and who likes to fly under the radar and just get her work done."

Alan Tudyk is said to play Emily's new boss, Del. Described by Deadline as a "rich, over-educated globetrotting wastrel," Del received his position because of being the insurance company owner's son.

Christina Kirk, who worked with Powerless showrunner Ben Queen on A to Z, will reportedly play Del's personal assistant Jackie, a noted fangirl of male superheroes.

Community's Danny Pudi is said to be Emily's primary confidante and best friend at the insurance company. A bit of a prankster, he does so "as a way to make their office the 'least Super place on earth,' just a little less 'unsuper'."

NBC and Warner Bros. Television plan to film a Powerless pilot this spring, with a goal for the series to debut this fall.

    Officially picked up by NBC

    Spoiler: show

Vanessa Hudgens stars as Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult ‘hero’ in her own right … even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.”

The first image under the spoiler is Vanessa Hudgens' Emily giving Crimson Fox a hard time for making her and the bus-load of people she's rescuing late for work.

    Updated Synopsis
In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.

No amount of references will save this show.

I forgot to watch this, but according to Polygon, it's nothing like the early promos. It's now just another drab TV sitcom with a DC comics theme.

Yeah the first episode was pretty damn bad I thought. None of the characters were the least bit appealing or funny.

Considering the roles they're playing this ain't gonna happen.

And honestly that was my biggest complaint. It wasn't great but for a pilot it wasn't bad. Could see it going either way. Abed is basically Abed but just a touch more cynical, so far at least. And nice opening credits, for whatever that's worth.

I watched the 2nd episode and while the first was kind of hit or miss the 2nd one was much worse. I didn't keep up after that. The most interesting thing about it was that they seemed like they were going to figure out Batman's identity. Oh well.
