Draw fire increases the dmg though, since it's a defense boost.

Fuck melee meta is so unfair. Decimated Elite Ultima.
Good God why is reddit all up in arms about drop rates and spending money
Apparently when JP had this banner a few months ago, the non-ssb character relics had 2% drop rate, but it turns out instead of global getting 2% rate on those, they instead inflated the generics and off banner item drop rates for us and gave us a 1% drop rate on all character relics like the ssbs normally have, so people feel they got hustled after pulling hard based on the assumption that the kaiser shield and grand armor had 2% drop rates like JP did. Considering up until now our event banner drop rates basically mirrored the same rates JP had, it was reasonable to assume the trend would continue. When it turned out that wasn't the case, reddit erupted into a giant shitstorm over it.
And to be fair, they have a point. If you're going to treat the game between JP and Global as 2 different entities, that's fine. Be upfront about changes to something that's been steadily consistent and verifiable (banner rates) instead of keeping it hush and hoping noone notices.
The anger isn't that they changed the banner rates, the anger is that they did it and passed it off as nothing changed.
i've joined the gem boycott. no more buying gems / spending money on ffrk until something is done
Basically they pulled a bait and switch so people have every right to pissed. Let's say you are playing roulette and you expect to be betting on a normal table so bet red. Only after you have blown all your money, someone tells you the roulette table used had half the reds replaced with 0's.
I started playing the new Tales game last night and was amazed that their banners flat out say what the draw rates are.
Yup, had they properly announced a change in pull rates it would've been fine (still bad compared to JP but at least clear and straightforward) but they didn't. I got lucky but it was still a dick move by DeNA to mess with the rates just to get a few more bucks on a highly anticipated banner. What's stopping them from screwing us over again on future banners?
Edit: Oh and their answers to this issue are even worse, don't get me started on those...
Sadly it's their game their rules
thank them. they keep it free for u
They get you because you don't realize how much you are spending. I actually saw on my credit card how much I had spent on it over the last year and I was horrified. And that was just from doing the 100 gem pulls and the very infrequent 300-900 pull.
I mean really when you look at the figures, it's kind of ridiculous. A ~10-12% chance at getting a digital item for $30. But they prey on the gambling instinct and people not realizing exactly what they are spending their money on. Even though I know how bad it is, I've still tossed a couple of dollars here and there at it which have seriously added up. I'm done now that I've actually seen how much I have casually thrown at the game in small dribs and drabs.
Like can you imagine if when you went to the videogame store they said spend $30 for a 10% chance at getting this game and 90% chance of getting games worth nothing.
I usually defend DeNa when it comes to Global........ but yeah, can't this time, banner advertises increased drop rate on tactics, when the increased drop rate is toward off banner relics, enough said.
Eh, if they give us a refund, I'd be happy, if not, I'm not going to be overly salty. Already knew Gatcha would have these issues.
I doubt they're going to do anything given their response. It was obviously intentional on their part. Also the refund would be the largest to date, I mean we're looking at one of the top spending banners and they didn't immediately address.
Can we change the OP to some sort of riot reference?
I know it may sound hollow from me considering I got everything from the banner except N-Kai, but I also sent a letter to DeNa concerning this. I'm going to wait and see if drop data from the Relm banners reverts back to the original formula before ending my 100 gem pulls, but all my pulls going forward will be mythril only. I'm also going to wait for figures from the reddit datamines before pulling going forward.
My letter to DeNa basically said that I understand that JP and Global are two different games, but from a PR and Marketing view they're also dealing with 2 different markets as well. Because of the "lag" between the versions, global is very privy to events, banners, and game changes before the fact heading into events. We take that opportunity to pull as much data from the JP version as we can, and compare it to global changes accordingly. There was no indication that the Tactics banner would be singled out for verifiable and quantifiable rate changes compared to previous banners that have set an expected baseline as to how the pulling mechanics function. It was not advertised as being any different from other event banners, yet the statistically significant data collected show that this is not the case. I'm sure Reddit is not the only game community to notice this from a data collection standpoint, and is certainly not the only group voicing displeasure at not being informed as to whether it was for this specific banner or Global rates will differ from verified JP rates on pulls going forward. All that we are asking is to be informed of changes, not told everything is "working as intended" when it is not.
The Great TicTac Riots of 20XX. Algus and Salt are to blame.
DeNa already gave out a statement saying everything was functioning as normal. Doubt we'll get anymore.
