It's possible they don't want to make the rewards for Ult++ too good at the moment because it's new and not a lot of the player base will be able to complete/master the fight. Missing out on the adamantite/scarletite rewards doesn't feel too bad and gives the player base time to catch up with the power curve of the game, along with giving the top tier players the challenge they're looking for. With the introduction of BSSB's and now OSSB's the adjusted difficulty curve for the top tier boss fights is a little different than when +++ and regular Ultimate battles were released.

This 100%, they did the same thing initially back when we were starting to get boss rushes and ++/+++ content long ago. If they make the rewards better then ult/ult+, then inevitably people who can't complete it will bitch and complain as to why the good shit is locked behind hard as nails content (i.e. when Ifrit fragment dungeon first came out).

Those will help but not completely. Japan's Ultimates are shifting towards "ignore Wall and buffs" attacks so you'll need strong stackable debuffs. Wall still helps with some attacks but if you get hit by these you won't last long without some heavy debuffing.

Eh, the more "Fuck you!" they get with player tactics, the more they can't be so tight-fisted with things like AoE heals or even the 2 ability limit. I know BSSBs technically get around that, but good luck getting the one someone wants/needs.

So I decided to fuck around and switch Agrias (Cleansing Strike) with Ramza (Throw Stone SB) on my jp account and throw lifesiphon, Ramza's RM2, and Entrust on him and holy shit, that combo is so damn broken for characters that don't have lifesiphon. Made it so for ultimate I could throw up Aerith's crit/magic blink buff at start with wall and shout, then have Ramza build up SB charge with a few lifesiphon and have 2 bars on her in a short time so she can keep up the crit buff and use her bssb to heal, also had enough charges to give Y'shotla infinite SS2 charges and have Faris spam lightning/wind debuff SSB.

Best part: with Crit buff and wind weakness, Cloud was hitting 90k crits on ultimates with his OSSB!
