What is it dark orbs are used for right now? chain spells?

Chain stonega is the only chain spell that uses dark orbs. There are some pretty good skills that use them currently like TR, dark zone, multi-break (only need R2) and bahamut.

There are a lot of new abilities that are coming out that use dark orbs but not many actually look good to me. The phys darkness and ninja abilities seem pretty meh imo. I'll probably end up honing twin firestrike, dash bit and ultima weapon when they come out though.

edit: I forgot about chain bioga but I'd probably only hone that if I had a good reason to.

Jps getting a new type of SB which is called Combo

When you use that Combo SB it starts a gauge, and you have to fill it with certain element attacks and when the gauge is full it would deal 2x dmg

7 months is about the power creep cycle. This would be right there in line with that.

SB + SSB
BSB + OSB
USB + CSB

Kinda meh that theyre doing this so soon after USB. The concept sounds cool if it also includes realm synergy over strictly class or elemental chains.

Also the use kind of goes away if there is just one attack that does 2x damage. I'm hoping by the way it sounds that all abilities used while the chain is active (and related to the chain) do double damage.

USB was not a new tier though. USBs are basically OSBs for support/healer characters, this is actually a new thing.

Edit: Combo SBs coming out on November 11th and given the images that were mined it'll be a FFXI event. First time that Cloud doesn't introduce us to a new tier!

It really depends on the U++. Some will be a lot harder than others without a proper medica.

I find it depends on the fight as well. With some it's really just a matter of strategy.
