Are the current mote dungeons pretty much level 99 content? I tried a couple, and lost badly. Didn't seem like a case of doing things differently being the difference between a win and a loss.
Also, same question for Ultimate+ stuff. In the FFIII event, I managed to master everything up to the Red Dragon Ultimate fight, which I merely got "Expert" on. Might have pulled Master, but I forgot about Mental Break.
On the Ultimate+ fight, I got Great Tortoise down, but had basically nothing left in the tank for Salamander. Offense was too much, even using Sentinel's Grimoire.
You likely need better hones for Ultimate+ and to exploit their weaknesses for additional damage. Don't worry too much about it though, you'll get there eventually.
This fight is probably a bad example, since it's really 4 back-to-back fights with what seems to be no Ability-recharging yellow potions (forget what they are called) in between. Even I was worried about hones on this one. Since every time a new monster popped up I had to re-debuff, and I only had 4 charges on Full Break, and Breakdowns.
...but, I think overall the answer your question is; yes, you should be able to do all the current content with level 80 synergy characters (99s will make is -slightly- easier) with proper hones and 5 star gear.
Ethers.

Missed out on mastering U++ by a fucking invisible sliver of HP. Not gonna bother trying again since lolupgrades. Still, the last phase is most definitely a DPS race since you'll probably only get 4 actions off per character, maybe 2 SBs and 1 normal if you have anything worth using. My VIII synergy is pretty donkey, though.
I've been using Battleforged on Ramza for Shout, but it still seems a bit slow getting him going if there are no trash mobs beforehand. I don't have Ace Striker yet though.
Kain and Yang are probably getting ditched once I get Zell up to a useful level, since I don't have a good weapon for Kain anymore (gave it to Luneth), and Yang's stuck at 65 for now. Between him and Zell, the difference is between Duelist and Exploding Volcano Kick, and I have Zell's MC2.
I think Zell BSB, Vaan BSB, Ramza (Shout), Luneth BSB, healer (right now just Porom) should be substantially better once I get the materia for it. Kain can't really do much for me other than use a couple of Break abilities and Lightning Dive. Yang and Luneth have been far better DDs than him.
I got his sword SSB and I"m still wavering on whether I should bother leveling him or not since my main team usually revolves around PCecil, Ramza, Vanille, Tidus (OSB), and a mixture of Agrias/Bartz/Tyro depending on what I need. I have decent mages too. Generally for U++ or whatever, if there's a great RW for it (like Hope's BSB, or Serah's, etc.. I'll swap the third DPS out for Tyro and bring that RW of course)
If anything OK could slot into the third dps slot with that SSB, but I dunno how good that really is. I really wanted his BSB so I could replace Ramza with him and be able to defend bringing a physical/magical mixture of a party, but since I didn't get it, it's tough to really say bringing him.
Maybe I'm dumb.
Small problem with doing III exp exclusively. =/ I have all of the rematch dungeons, VIII dungeons, MO dungeons all left to do before they all leave on the 9th XD.
Ramza should be Lifesiphon R4, Multi-break R2, and Mako or Mog RM. Open with Shout if you can handle the damage or Multi if you cannot. The other move for turn two. Then LS until you need to reapply multi.
Shout > Multi > LS > LS > Multi
Multi > Shout > LS > Multi > LS > LS > Multi
You'll have Shout ready to go. I usually get two to three off using this method. I also run this for Tyro Wall on my second account and RW Shout.
Edit: AND GG on Vaan BSB. Give him Battleforged. Alternate between Addle and Defense and he'll fire off another BSB before his charges are gone. Insta-cast for him will up your DPS a bunch.
Easily doable.
The U++ was a pain even with synergy. I put Quistis up if you need to Zerg.

I also forgot how fucking retarded Cagnazzo is
Cagnazzo is really gimmicky, but overall not terribly difficult if you make the most of his mechanics. If anyone is stuggling with this fight, here is how I initially beat it months ago when it first came out with a no-SB build:
Spoiler: show
On a side note, he is also very easy to exploit hit and run on for easy SB fills as his first 2 turns are always non-damaging unless he chooses to prep tsunami. Enter fight, turn on auto attack, flee after the slowga or tsunami warning, repeat process until SB bars are filled to desired levels (about 10 stam needed per bar)
I just brute forced him, smacked him a out of Tsunami like one time and let him cast it the rest of the time cause I just healed through it lol
Big news! the DU Lucky coming tomorrow will be SSB+ only!
Was planning to skip but I'm now in, bring it!

Hmm. I'm good on those realms.

i am stacked on 6/9, OK on XIII, and have one of the 4 current XIV SSBs... i probably shouldn't but it's a (tiny) chance at two really good healer bursts so i'll go for it anyway.
