They are the physical equivalent of Memento Mori and Dark Zone except that the ATK+30% doesn't stack with Shout so there's less sinergy compared to the magic buffs. We're in the age of OK though so it doesn't matter as much

When did reaping scythe and death throes get added to the game?

I'm not that interested in the abilities since they are phys darkkness but i'm kinda shocked that I missed them being added.

We just got them with this event in the +/+++ battles.

I don't care so much about reaping scythe but I'm more interested in throes as an upgrade to Dark Bargain. It really opens up physical bursts as a way to knock down enemies like MM does for magical bursts. I'm not sure what to do with RS, since I don't use too many darkness folks (physical-wise, Jecht, Sephiroth, and Luneth are my only hitters, although I could level Gabranth I suppose).

Throes doesn't tank my defense. I'm already capping damage.

I'm wondering myself how best to use these now, having Leons BSB.

I was actually thinking that Death Throes + Endark + Ambition's Price would be enough to get close to capping damage on anything he put out and Reaping Scythe would let me do more damage than than Ambition's Price beyond that first command use.

If you're hoping to en-dark exploit scythe, the only efficient way is giving one of your two instant SB RMs, otherwise you only have throes (bad if using shout or other 50% boostga) or auto attacks (even worse) to generate SB. Thats fine in MP, but likely an inefficient use of the RMs in single player.
