the only core RM i ever find myself using nowadays is devout's RM2 which is pretty nifty. are any others really useful? i was under the impression most are just the ability-restoring ones, which don't much matter to me now that all my stuff's honed.

Magus RM2 is technically better than Terra's Dualcast (although not by much) and there's a few "damage increase" RMs. But I'm basically just collecting most of them.

Omnicast fire is an okay QOL thing for some of the dailies; war ballad is another haste materia; and berserker has the 20% axe RM. Other than that eh.

Apparently damage overflow will be available through EX mode for abilities other than OSBs soon in JP. EX mode is a special buff granted by USB type relics to certain characters, in particular either Cloud or Sephiroth in this case as the datamined info says EX mode "Soldier".

To add onto this, it seems only certain characters are getting a USB in addition to an OSB and their USB will have EX mode attached to it. EX mode is also a unique buff by itself, so it will stack with everything. The only other EX mode relics we know is coming in banner 4 of JP fest and are Terra (EX mode = MAG +30% and halved casting time), P. Cecil (DEF +100% and HP Stock 6k), and Greg (Dance of Carnage [Critical rate +50%] and stronger version of Retaliate).

EX mode Cloud has the potential to be very, very broken.

Why would be be any more broken than any other character that could potentially get ex-mode? Damage-wise, Terra with Meltdown could do a lot of damage. Assuming all main characters get ex-mode eventually, quite a lot of them could be broken - and Cloud is usually always the weakest of the bunch.

Honestly EX mode has the potential to be broken on any character alone, although having Overflow mode for abilities does make it pretty powerful if done correctly, think someone on Reddit mathed out that with the new potential ATK softcap and with Cloud's LM and 40% spellblade DMG RM and a shit ton of ATK buffs like Shout, OK burst, he could hit 40k total damage per use for the double spellblade abilities.

Barret is bugged if you feed him 1 greater growth egg he'll jump 8 levels. Edit: looks like any egg will work, but it only works once.
