also i used to go pretty hard on stamina refreshes during orbfest more for exp, but as of right now (excluding incoming lodes) i have every named character maxed out as high as they can go except for edward, gau, and edge (and garnet but she's getting maxed now). no need for exp refreshes and I'm pretty good on orbs from previous fests. I don't even think I've honed or created an ability since the last one as far as I remember. (edit: I honed meteor to r3 after the black orbfest weekend but that was probably it)

by the time this orbfest is over I'll probably have cores in my pt because they'll be the only characters who can even gain exp.

I need to start looking ahead to which 5star melee abilities I want to hone. maybe I'll dump a couple mythril into wind orb phase.

If you are a old player you only have 3 mc1 to get ingus firion and Edward

So just get firion now to level him before minwuu and get the egg from the minwuu event

As for me I won't start minwuu till orb phase3 so hor is a better option to get him as close as 65 as possible

Was more of advice for newer players who don't have all MCs.

For the R3 chainstarter/full charge kit you'll need 120 MPO. We're going to get around 64 of them by the time both abilities are released.

also, if you're looking to the future and you want to spam refresh a phase of orbfest, look to phase 2. Of the 26 total 5 star abilities that will be in the game up to where jp is, 24 of them have orbs in phase 2 (power, wind, ne)

chainstarter: 2.0 damage, your next action is instacast

full charge is a 50% stronger barrage (4 hits), but the trade off is a longer/slower cast time

so, chainstarter > full charge > chainstarter > full charge, etc

edit: should note that by the time these come out, it requires a character with both 5 star celerity and combat, so zack and tidus. not sure how record dives affect availability

As of this moment, 4 star fragments are too rare (only had the 255 ifrit dungeon for them) to even get near the ability increases of record dive, so its best to not take the ability gains from record dive into consideration until they make them more available.

I'm using Edward no matter what, and Lulu is a must because of Focus. I agree it's a good idea to wait on others though.

Edward doesn't get MC2 afaik, but I think most people have 1 char they were going to break 80 cap on for some reason (like Lulu with focus), but I'd let your draws make your other decisions.

Needing a little advice on who to level up. I have Cloud and Tidus at 65. Sephiroth is 59, Cid is 62, Rydia 56 and Lenna 53. Warrior of Light is 50 as is Jecht. Kain is 47 and everyone else is pretty far behind. I believe someone had mentioned leveling Cecil (Paladin). Any other suggestions? Figure since we're in a spot to gain a lot of EXP I should take full advantage of it.

Despite the low stats, can't go wrong with leveling Tyro for his super versatility, especially if you have Sentinel's Grimoire. Even if you don't, you can pull on banner 5 and hope you score.

If you don't have BLM, WHM, and SMN leveled, do it for their RM. Otherwise, dunno who you have or don't.

Hope gets a BSSB: 4 AoE holy hits+Enholy+Burst commands (one of the two commands seems to be holy based so he can be pretty damn powerful). Cid Raines is some sort of melee/mage hybrid and the second Fragment superboss will be Dahaka (XIII). Lots of Holy damage SBs on those banners so I'm guessing that'll help against the superboss like ice against Ifrit.

Very curious to see how Cid Raines plays out in terms of role, looking to be a whm pld more magic oriented. Very tempted at banner 2 for his SSB and the others on there, but bssbfest is 10 days away, so will wait and see.
