I can barely motivate myself to finish up elites, nevermind grind dailies!

I get why people do it but basically it boils down to I'm forgetful / lazy about stamina use. I don't hone stuff because it's unnecessary and I don't exp grind for the same reason. At some point some boss is going to catch me out because of it no doubt!

Grinding dailies are so much easier than doing elites though. Dailies are pretty automated.

Dailies are entirely automated for me too. Granted I typically run with 60+ (cos most of my characters are already at that range) and the occasional 65+ for RM farming, and a mage with Healer RM. The rest typically use Haste RMs and 1 Ace Pilot.
Sometimes they die.. but if its not EXP day i don't care at all.

The only named characters I have left to level are

    Tyro - 78
    Warrior of Light - 76
    Selphie - 73
    Garnet - 65
lolGau - 44 (I should probably egg him the rest of the way to 50, but he'll be done by the end of that day anyway.)

After that it's all core characters all the time.

Eh, I've been diligent about getting people to 50 for MCs, but I still have a lot to go 50-65 and a few of the lesser useful 65-80s. Of course, I haven't gone balls deep with spending and have mythril'd OFs less than I probably would've if they were 2 orbs instead of 3 per set.

I found that once you get a decent selection of abilities and some synergy for most realms then I was able to complete most things difficulty 115~ish and under with just about any balanced group of characters. So except for Ultimates and some ++/Elite dungeons I'm pretty much always rolling with a group that needs exp. As soon as I cap someone I slot in a comparable replacement and keep on going. It's more me wanting to have everything leveled than anything else.

Levels aren't very important in this game, once they have RM. I'm a day-one player, and still don't have any capped characters (on purpose). An extra 10-15 stat points won't make or break anything.

After a while you also pool so many exp eggs that you can pretty much just 1-50 any new char that comes along...

I only take people to 65 who I plan on using or who have useful materia. Otherwise, I'm wasting time.

A reminder, since you can probably sit in Phase 2 long after it ends (last time it was at least a few days). Leave a couple guys unleveled for that time, since you can't rotate people out during those days.

This is my plan for the next few phases:

    • Do as much of Minwu as possible when it starts, without going into stamina for P2
    • Do P2 for the entire duration of P2
    • Stay in P2 dungeon even in P3, until I get booted out. If I get booted out early, finish P3 dungeons for mythril, then finish Minwu. If I don't get booted out, I'm staying for as long as I can, and only leaving to finish P3 dungeons for mythril.
    • If I still haven't finished Minwu dungeons by the time P4 starts, finish it then.
    • Start P4

I don't know what any of that means For a new player, wouldn't we need stuff you get in P2/P3?

Yah thats just... It'll work for what he wants to do. For the normal person, just doing all 6 of them and then spamming the last over and over is fine.

My guess is he's attempting to stock up on the more valuable orbs... Power/Non-Elemental that are phase 2? Its a good idea, honestly, Major Power/Great Power are really useful, but I personally like the Mythril and stocking up on the stage 3 ones aint bad.

Here are the orb phases, you can also check the PDF below. It's a great resource that's continually updated:

    Phase 1 (now): Black/Lightning/Dark
    Phase 2 (start on 3/20): Power/Non-elemental/Wind
    Phase 3 (start on 3/24): White/Holy/Earth
    Phase 4 (start on 3/28): Summon/Fire/Ice

    http://happypluto.com/~misterp/r/ffrk.pdf

Minwu refers to the FFII event that starts tomorrow, and runs until 3/29, which means it overlaps P1 and P4 by a day each. What I mentioned above was just what I will do to make sure I finish everything, while maximizing the orbs that I want.

As you may have noticed, if you're in the middle of a daily dungeon when the day changes, you get a notice that the daily dungeon has ended, and you're booted out. But the different phases of the orb fest dungeons are apparently treated as a single dungeon. Which means if you're in the phase 2 dungeon, and 3/24 6pm rolls around, it won't boot you out, and you'll still be in phase 2. This allows you to keep farming in any given phase even after its intended duration. However, if you exit the dungeon and try to go back in, it'll place you in the current phase's, because that'll be the active dungeon then.

P2 has Power and Wind orbs, which are by far the most important ones. So you want to maximize farming in P2, at the expense of the other phases. Even though you may be missing P1 and P3 orbs at this point, if you keep playing, you will, at some point, be short on Power and Wind orbs. You really want to load up on them while you can.

EDIT: Actually, for a new player like yourself, you probably can't stay indefinitely in the dungeon. Veteran players have Record Materia that refresh ability charges between fights, which means that they can stay indefinitely. So it's probably not an option for you, but it's not that big of a deal. However, it is absolutely true that P3 orbs are the weakest, so I would try to finish Minwu's event using P3 stamina instead of the others'.

Thanks for this. Yeah, I don't have any RM's like.. outside of Cloud and Sephiroth's atm so I can't do anything neat. :< but yeah, outside of like a first time through for the materia on P3 I guess Ill use the time to do Minwu's stuff like you said. Does it drop good stuff? I doubt I'd be able to do anything super high in it anyway

The power/non elemental/wind stuff.. Ya, I def noticed you need tooons of that, so I'll prolly even spend the materia i get from the 5 stages there to refresh and keep going as much as I can.

Power phase is more important than Holy. I plan on staying through until the last day then binging for the mythril.

Decided it's finally time to make a second R4 version of each -aja... still plenty of orbs left over even though I haven't spent mythril on refreshes! ;s

7th abyss is Kaiser Dragon and Meltdown spell for jp, also DeNa confirmed Greg gets BSSB at end of March and it is the most anticipated.
