Even though they're easy, Ravana Ex and Thordan Ex I find to be perfect compromises for the people too salty about "raiders wanting content" and "I suck at the game please hand me good gear" folks. They're all mostly mechanic driven with touches of DPS burning (and yes, despite what people STILL SEEM TO BELIEVE, the Parry shields does indeed fuck you if you're a ranged attacker) but sadly, Yoshi confirmed last letter they won't do anything as hard as Thordan Ex again so unless the next fights are just as mechanic driven, the whiners keep winning on getting a dumbed down game. Even Midas being in between second and final coil will likely make it easy aside the instant death walls they're no doubt adding to compensate.
My only hope is the storyline dungeon will be as intricate and maybe even a bit of a challenge like the Research Facility was the first time through as a fresh a 60. But then I remember yoshi said if it may stop people from progression it's a big no no to make us use our brains and be skilled beyond 123 rotations. Maybe 3.3 when they allocate resources to stuff that matters things will balance out a bit more since they're wasting so...much...on PvP to the point of even doing some kind PvP event?
Pretty much, most of the people I cleared with had done little beyond two expert dungeons and Bismarck, and Ravana still wasn't particularly challenging except for Swift Liberation plus puddles (before realizing how those two mechanics fully worked). It's a fun fight, but I wouldn't say it was "tuned pretty well".
Regardless, I welcome more trials like Ravana, my social circles are dead as fuck and it's hard to be picky about who to bring to fights these days.
Research Facility with a group of fresh 60s was so much fun. Igeyorhm and her Shiva-styled ice-dodging was neat, it seemed like a natural progression of Shiva EX's ice floor.
That being said, they haven't put an iLevel cap on it, so I go in there and help people on WHM and basically tank everything. I can eat every single ball in the final phase of the final boss and not even have my HP halved. It's worth it to go in every once and a while for fun.
No objections.

Have we forgotten already?

*Cover tracks don't count
I myself would place Titan at 2nd best track in the game. After that it gets fuzzier.
Even then I'd say even the first track of Titan (guitar riff) is the best of the 4 parts. Soken really does some boss mode song openers.
Nah. Do tell what from HW is beating out Ravana? Thordan EX is up there, but no way it's beating Ravana's first theme, no way.
just have everything in it!
While I like the first Ravana song I don't really see what makes it "best evar" material, it's kind of a holding pattern tune meant to prelude the real fight.
It just doesn't have a whole lot of meat to it.
Iono, I see it differently -- Soken uses a very good range on the cello, while the chanting acts as the song's metronome. To that effect, he gives the song a feel of either being a slow waltz or a paced marching theme, depending on how you listen to it. It has quite a bit of meat on it, even if it's a repeated theme.
I'd put Bismarck (either) and Thordan 2 above Ravana 1.
Titan 1 and Titan 5 are still the best in the game, IMO. I'd probably put Levi 2 and Ramuh above HW as well, if we're just counting primals.
I'm partial to Titan's intro: I love the garage-band cover aspect of it. Its so grungy and stank. I can smell the sulfur under the ground where he's waiting for you.
I'm not that fond of HW's music that much, but Primal Wise I like Thordan Ex's most since it's a nice remix.
In general, I like this song the most on current soundtrack that didn't come from 1.x era.
