Totally dumb question, if you go the annuity option and die - do payments carry over to others in your family until it's gone, or is it just over?
I assume for that it's spread out over 30 years or something. But suppose you die in year 3, are the next 27 years' worth of payments still carried out to Spouse/Kids etc, or is it just "lol rekt, we saved 27/30 years of payments" ?

The payments will continue to whomever you specify they should go to. Think of the payments as part of your estate, not tied to you individually.

From what I've read they have to pay the death tax on that before getting paid?

Reports say over 85% of possible combinations have been sold for the drawing tonight, but if there is no winner tonight it is projected to be 2billion. Which is 1.2b in the cash option.

Saturday estimate was 75% at least one winner.

It's up to 93% now.

Well the estate itself pays any estate tax, so I'm not sure how annuities fit into that. Spouses are usually exempt, and everyone else is taxed based on state laws. In PA there's 4 tiers- Spouse=0%, Direct descendants=4.5%, Siblings=12%, everyone else=15%.
I'm in the middle of estate planning stuff for my family, so I've read a lot about this stuff lately.

Anyone seen the film Ex Machina (one of the best from recent years)? Y'all know that house/lab I'm talking about? I'd buy that property, love the nature-friendly design. I think it was inspired by this Japanese architect, Tadao Ando, if I'm not mistaken. I'm thinking of building something like that back in MX. Anyway, I'd get something like that, invest, make profit, help those kids, the ones none gives a fuck about, who love tech/science/etc. to at least give 'em a chance to explore their curiosity.

As much as I'd love to build that Ex Machina waifu, It'd probably kill me. So yeah, no.

I've never looked into the annuity thing, but I'd take the lump sum all day errday. No kids. Family is awol. I'm trying to live that good life while providing for those that have been good to me.
