Synopsis:

Rush Hour, a reimagining of the hit feature film franchise, is a buddy-cop drama about a maverick LAPD detective and a by-the-book detective from Hong Kong who knock heads when they are forced to partner together. Detective Lee (Jon Foo) is a reserved, honorable master martial artist with lightning-fast moves who comes to L.A. to avenge his sister’s alleged death and learn more about her connection to a Chinese organized crime ring. Detective Carter (Justin Hires), on the other hand, is a wisecracking cop who plays by his own rules and has never wanted a partner. As exasperated as Carter’s boss, Captain Cole (Wendie Malick), gets with him, she knows he’s a brilliant detective who gets results. Attempting to help the two get along is Sergeant Didi Diaz (Aimee Garcia), Carter’s friend and former partner who doesn’t hesitate to call him out on his antics. But even as cultures clash and tempers flare, Carter and Lee can’t deny they make a formidable team, and grudgingly admit that sometimes an unlikely pairing makes for a great partnership.

Loved the movies, so I immediately wanted to hate this, but then I wanted to really like it because it would cool to have a good show on TV to watch. But in the end, after watching the trailer, it just looks stupid, especially when they are trying to do the same bits from the movies.

I really don't think there's anything special about the Rush Hour franchise itself. Tucker and Chan are the entire reason anyone gives a fuck and without them this will be trash.

Pilot is out, got to the 13 minute mark before turning it off. It's pretty bad. And oddly, it really feels like the actors involved all know it except for the black cop and their lines feel forced, like they've been given a script they know has been rehashed to death and went "fine I'll do it" but they're definitely not into it.

I recorded it, and started to watch it, but I think I only made it that far. I was waiting to see if people said that it ended up ok by the end of the episode but most comments I've read have been pretty negative. This can go join the Minority Report series in the "was this really necessary" trash bin.

I saw march 31st and was hoping this was an April fool's joke; then I saw the OP and saw it was posted months ago...

Then I thought to myself "Maybe mods/admins can change the dates of their posts"

Then I realized this was real.

Expected it to be horrible, so I came out rather ok about it, maybe 3/10 level.

Jon Foo does not look Chinese at all.
And as a cantonese speaker, the opening cantonese was horribly off lol, it's hard to tell if it's American cantonese or they were forced to learn/mimic speak cantonese?

Shame they didn't redo the airport scene, it was funny...

Shame also they can't swear or say any racial slang words.

The Lee sister thing was a good plot upgrade. Hope carter tries to chase her ass

The sooner they moved away from copying the movie the marginally better it got.

I guess it's normal for a pilot to resolve the plot somewhat, and then leave a little breadcrumb thread for the rest of the series? I'll watch it for tiny giggles.

Pacing was terrible, hope it slows down after.

I can't lie. I'm kind of enjoying this show. I mean the acting is terrible, but its just terrible enough to where I can enjoy it. Last nights ep was pretty good.

How this got to a pilot really is amazing. It's so bad they couldn't even get decent actors. It's like a shittier version of Hawaii five o.
