This honestly feels like a very similar amount of information we get per patch, the only outlier being the Minfilia focus but she's in the patch art so I feel like they couldn't keep that under wraps forever.
It's way too early for XIV to jump the shark though. It took XI 13 years to get to that point.
Spoiler: show
Yeah look at the hype that was driven when the little runt that runs Ul'dah was thought to be gone.
Honestly, as much as I like Nanamo, I was pretty disappointed she didn't stay dead. I was really looking forward to leading an assault to retake Ul'Dah from the Syndicate, usher in the Ul'Dahn Republic, etc.
The game would have been 500% better if they had gone this route and it was all set up too, but they pussied out because...idk, they suck?
I mean really, some of the story decisions are very good. But others, you have to wonder what the hell they were thinking. The resolution to the shit that happened in Ul'dah is pretty much a top tier example of how to kill your story's climax before it even begins.
Can't handle the death of a major city state head power but they can handle the death of a lesser character that drives more QQ from the community because he couldn't pop a cooldown for the tank buster in the cutscene.
he'll be back, please look forward to dat Ixion primal
Giving FFXIV the old Kingdom Hearts treatment where no one truly dies and they always come back in some way.
judging by how many people I see with minfillia's outfit or hair I think some of you underestimate how popular minfillia is.
I cannot express how much I needed that Ul'dah civil war in my life.
@Rocl:
Yeah that's what I was meaning that we had content directly relating to a situation like that. Even if the story was all over, not much they coulda done due to their 1.0 development taking all staff members off of XI lol.
It would have been the perfect chance to take Omega out of the PvP storyline and actually dump him into the MSQ, because if Omega shows up at all now in the MSQ it'll just feel like an "oh right Omega tends to be an important fight/side fight in some FF games..opps."
Omega is in the pvp story?
Also, HW has a lot of FFT references. The Vault battle reminds me of when you descend into the library under the church in Garland at the end, and as you defeat the Temple Knights they teleport and "retreat into the inner sanctum". That being said, I would not be surprised if we have to fight a possessed/zombified Hauchefaunt. I love how one of Thordan's knights during the final battle even says "Die just like your comrade did".
It's what took the wind of my sails. Sure, Knights of Round was rightfully amazing but having Ul'Dah tie up so neatly was a load of bullshit.
Hauchefant is XIV's Zack. The guy does nothing but good, is your Conrad Verner, had a pretty shitty life being a bastard son yet still manages to keep it all together with a smile.I don't know why people QQ so much over him. He creeped me out.
Then he gets blowed up by some asshole with no plot depth and Hauche talks about 'being a hero'. Yeah, I can see why people liked him.
And then you don't even get your one on one fight with the dickhead who killed him. I mean what the fuck SE. You gave us plenty of fights against the individual knights but then didn't give us one against the knight that killed Haurchefant
