Anyone here ever get Lasik eye lasers done?

I have an astigmatism in one eye that basically makes everything I see out of my right eye look like this. Really hard to find pictures that describe it. The worst is reading text at close distance has a ghosted copy off centered above it on an angle. Even as I type this I see ghosts.

Found a decent pic regarding text at close ranges. Going back to FFXIV was a nightmare.


However, my left eye is "20/15, incredible vision, wowwowo so good" and does not need lasers to make it better.

Anyone got any experience with Lasik and how it would affect just one eye being fixed? Will I get the weird night issues it presents out of just one eye, if they even develop?

As a side-note. I've never worn glasses or contacts up to this point cause I'm a stubborn fool. I've been prescribed for glasses several times and never followed up. Even got a contact for just one eye but I'd have to constantly adjust/spin it to correct the diffraction resulting in eye irritation and pain.

I had a light astigmatism on both eyes.

Lasik did not help with that, and I think made it worse.

On the upside, I don't need glasses or contacts, being able to see is great. But dear god I want to stab anyone that puts sharp white text on a black background. It's bad. If I had known this ahead of time I would have just stuck with the contacts and glasses tbh. Do some reading on the subject, but also be wary of your sources and take things with a grain of salt. Apparently this is a very common side effect and something like 30-40% of people report still having it months after lasik.

I did it last August, so it's been over half a year. It's gotten "not as bad" because I'm just having to deal with it and I'm getting a bit used to it, no idea if it's actually improved or not. I've just come to terms with it. :/

At least it's not as bad as that picture... it's more of just a blur/shadow, like this, but maybe about 50% intensity?



Don't get me started on driving at night and the bright ass headlights.

I had lasik done 13 ish years ago and it's the best money I ever spent.

My eyes were pretty good all things considered. No astigmatism, mild prescription which was steady for like 2 years.

Biggest side effect was for about 3 weeks it was hard for me to focus on a book or newspaper with both eyes. It was like I had to relearn how to focus. This cleared up over about a month

I haven't gotten lasik as I am not eligible but all I can say is that if that is what your vision looks like then you are one lucky mofo. I have keratoconus so not only do I have astigmatisms in both eyes dramatically, but my corneas are also lumpy/irregular shaped so glasses can't fully correct and I have crazy random ghosting and lights at night look like starbursts plus smears.

Astigmatism in both eyes, got lasik 2 years ago the moment I became eligible.

Best decision ever.

I did use shooting glasses for driving at night and gaming for a while but don't use them anymore. Wife had it done too.

I'd do it again.

At this point I'm really focused (no punssss) on getting rid of this double-vision in one eye. Feel like I've had a constant pressure/strain for years now that I've just been dealing with :/
I see a lot of things that could develop or go wrong on this consent form. Feel like I'm reading to much into it D:

I went from 20/200 to 20/10 with lasik but my eyes have definitely deteriorated quite a bit in the 6+ years since I had it done

Was that procedure terrifying for anyone else? I remember at some point your eye is open and and then everything just goes completely black for what felt like an eternity.

My Dr gave me some anti anxiety meds before hand so I wasn't nervous but yes I remember that.

"Focus on the light" the Dr said. I remember it being super bright and slowly strobing. Then everything went super dark and I could barely see it.

Nah the procedure was really easy for me, they even thought I fell asleep during it. They said they never had a patient so calm quiet and motionless they had to ask if I was okay and thought I passed out lol.

It's literally like a couple minutes per eye, and the discomfort part is maybe 15 seconds per eye. The worst part was the rest of the day and into the day after. You really need to schedule yourself to pretty much sleep as much as possible from the procedure onwards to get through it easier.

They basically take a comb or a bristle brush to your eyeball that part is weird af, dislike. But not too bad he's just combing your fucking eye ball with a brush kinda scrapey but that's the worst of it.

I've been getting RIDICULOUSLY itchy feet attacks lately. Like exactly where my sock starts going down. It's driving me nuts.

I think it's cause i've been glued to my desk and not as active the past month or an excess of caffeine (been drinking a lot).

Do you get really light headed if you crouch for more than 20-30 seconds and stand up too quick?

I do not get that, luckily. I tried finding any relatable medical conditions that could cause this and didn't find anything.

Do you have really hairy legs? I have found wearing socks too long or socks that push my leg hair in the wrong direction make my ankles super itchy.

Not really at all. It's almost like it's inside my skin. It's probably because i've been working extra all month and sitting at a desk all day is pooling the blood.

My shoulder hurts and I can't pinpoint the injury cause. It's a dull, lingering pain where it's just uncomfortable all the time. It feels like I was leaning on it too long like on an arm rest. When I sit on a couch with an arm rest, I have to drop my shoulder below me because putting my arm on the arm rest elevates my shoulder making it more uncomfortable. Same with resting my arm on the console of my car when driving. Now that I'm starting to focus on it, I'm feeling the dullness in the back of my shoulder blade too. I have full range of motion, no sharp pains or weakness, just a constant dullness like I'm leaning on it even when I'm not. And when I do lean on it it's unbearable.

I think I did hurt it maybe when doing a yoga stretch putting my arm straight up? Or maybe from pushups? Or maybe at work? I have no idea. Honestly it feels like I just had it on the arm rest of the couch too long using my laptop.

I'm really just venting, I'll probably call pcp tomorrow but he's on vacation, and anywhere else is going to send me for a pointless x-ray and I don't want to waste my time on that.
