That happens to me like 2 days after someone talks me into using one of those sinus irrigation things every time.
Hey know what doesn't actually make your cold better? Walking around with a hundred mls of water in your sinuses for two days.

I made that mistake before. Once you have a cold you should not use those.

If you use a vacuum powered one is actually fine. Neti pots? Oof.
There's vacuum powered ones??
It's more like a pump.
You mean like this?

I have thought about buying one but it would probably break, leak or whatever. My Doctor told me one time it's a good idea to use a nasal lavage as long as you do it correctly and not after you get a cold or sinus infection. I get really bad sinus infections sometimes (I have not had one in a long time cross my fingers) and he told me a lavage with saline can help prevent them. I have a small bottle that I use with little packets and distilled water sometimes.

Anyone have any tips for dealing with gout? Ideally preventing flareups entirely, but failing that, dealing with the pain so my foot isn't fucked for days. I live in a generational house where we share most meals and my mom's diet is pretty much exclusively chicken so I'm not getting red meat or seafood or other fatty meat, and I don't do a ton of hfcs stuff, which are supposedly one of the biggest triggers. Obviously losing weight will help, and I'm working on that part, down ~80 since last year but a hell of a lot to go still. Doctor prescribed indomethacin for the pain if needed but I've heard it can be pretty gnarly? Also I have, in the past, been using NSAIDs too often and lately been trying to minimize them to mitigate any further/lasting damage.
Allopurinol?
started recently but possibly not long enough to have had much effect yet, just had a flareup yesterday and want to look for anything I can do to help prevent more because in addition to debilitating pain for a few days it's already caused some permanent arthritis in my foot that I don't want to exacerbate
A short course of colchicine can knock out exacerbations. Preventing future episodes involves avoiding purine rich food, alcohol, and making sure to exercise and stay hydrated.
Zero alcohol, exercise is an area I'm still working on improving, motivation/energy/endurance are all hurdles on that front. I'll try to hydrate more, although I feel like I get a decent amount.
Anyone have experience with finger prick glucose monitors? I tried some Google fu but there's just so much information out there it's overwhelming.
I'd like to get one for a short term monitoring session of a week or two
I'd love a brand recommendation if anyone has one they really like
Any of them are okay. Unless you mean a continuous monitor.
Nah I'm paying out of pocket and the continuous ones are pretty expensive without insurance
Need plaxovid prescription but i'm out of town on travel and dr is out of country, is there a way to get the script sent to a pharmacy nearby me? I heard Amazon can do the prescription?
Does your doctor have a covering partner who can prescribe it?
CVS?
Try see if your insurance covers telehealth. This is a really quick telehealth call to get an RX, I did it in two minutes last time I got rona.
Got it through Amazon, had to wait a few hours inbetween replies but took about 7hrs to get it done and script sent over to walgreens. 1 time visit was $30 so not too bad and beat trying to get ahold of office or work with fucking UHC for a telehealth visit.
