I'll probably try double mage later tonight

Scrolled through RWs and found an Unyielding Fist RW before doing Ultimate and gave it a try. Mastered it, but it was an "meh" RW
I've been S/Ling literally all day. Got tired of losing trying to cheese with Galuf RW so I went with a P.Cecil setup and I'm doing even worse. Plus; even though Cecil has 1k more HP than everyone else and only takes a couple hundred per attack, Vossler still only swings once at him then pegs someone else.
I don't get it; I know it's percentage based but 200 HP off of over 6k shouldn't make Tyro or Lenna targets when nobody is full >_>
I finally won when I stopped trying to tank it and brought in my only heavy hitter SB's. Luckily that happens to be Squall and Tidus so they're level 80, but they're not SSB's. I really don't see how people are winning without a ton of luck or lots of defensive SB's, which I have none.
I noticed a similar behavior. Sometimes he'd even outright ignore Draw Fire with a normal (not AoE) or Tri-Attack. Frankly, I think his AI is bugged, both with this and how he seems to stay perma-hasted at the end, Dispel or not.
Something else I think I noticed is that he manually casts reflect just about when he's going to enter an Enrage phase. I think HP values are like 70/50/30%, but graphically it's like just to the right of his left foot, a little before the right foot, and then a bit to the left of the right for the last phase.
was playing with him earlier in the day and i could survive until quadrastrike time, but always ran out of steam pretty hard with him at like 20%. this was without galuf RW so maybe tomorrow i can give that a go idk
My initial strategy was to Advantaliate it with Greg and it's actually the best I've done out of my three different team attempts; Unyielding Fist RW did almost as good, and P.Cecil tanking was fucking abysmal.
I was hoping to blast through most of the new VI event tonight before Tuesday daily but I've already spent 12 hours S/Ling and wasting stamina on this fucking Ultimate. I swear I didn't have near this much trouble on Beatrix; maybe it's payback.
I saved up SB's and took Vossler slow until 50% reapplying buffs right before unloading SB's to zerg it from 50%>0. It took a couple tries but a little luck finally got it done. My SB's were Aerith's PP, Tidus's Slice and Dice, Squall's Fated Circle, and Ashe's magic+healing SB (forgot name).
I have no relic's for FF12 besides Ashe's sword, but I had a good number of 5-6* combined weapons, and no FF12 armor, just to give an idea of my equipment situation.
My setup was:
Squall r4 armor break/r4 drain strike haste materia
Tidus r4 dismissal/r3 lifesiphon haste materia
Ashe r2 meteor/ r4 dispel rod master materia
Aerith r2 protectga/r5 renewing cure mako materia
Vaan r5 tempo flurry/r3 steal power haste materia
Don't have a 2nd materia to start out with sb yet, but that on Ashe would have been nice.
wow Vossler was quite a challenging fight.. but not one that got me quite as frustrated as Beatrix.
Mastered on my winning attempt, and at least the accessory is totally worth it.
Ran
Cloud (78) - Lifesiphon / Bladeblitz - Ace Striker - SB: Blade Beam
Tyro (75) - Draw Fire / Drain Strike - Knight's Pride - SB: Cyclone
Sazh (65) - Dispel / Full Break - Dr Mog's Teachings - SB: Boon
Vaan (64) - Tempo Flurry / Steal Power - Dragoon's Determination
Aerith (65) - Curaga / Protectga - Mako Might - SB: Planet Protector
RW: Sentinel's Grimoire
equipped everyone with DEF for body and accessories except healer.
started the battle slow and steady. put Boon up and protectga, then PP. Cloud would blitz away the enemies while Vaan attempted to land slow on at least 1 of them. Prot and Shell was mostly able to hold up against water spout and the attacks. Tyro draws fire to take most of the hits. Sazh would just attack the Imperials until they're downed. From there I start charging my SB for Cloud against Vossler with Lifesiphon to prep for phase 2.
When Vossler enters phase 2, thats when i start using my first SG. Dispel for the haste, and if you'll notice I didn't bring black magic but chose to use Tyro and gave him a Fujin's Chakram so he could SB trigger it. Aerith gets incredibly busy with the Curagas but generally everyone is able to survive Double/Triplestrikes so her soul gauge builds up decently fast. Second PP would go off and I'd spam my Cloud SBs.. This is where I start to use my Full Breaks as well. I found that Drain strike was quite useful in keeping Tyro alive/on top of the CT0 list - it recovered very little tho (cos i had to use a rather weak chakram) but did the job.
low level phase, refresh SG buff and continue. He would start doing the AoE attack move more too.. but i think thats probably better than Quadrastrike. You can afford a death in this one anyway, so if its not a critical party member keep going.
Cleared it with 2 people dead and apparently didn't land slow on the guard on that particular attempt; oh well, at least I got the gauntlet for now.
If/when I go back to it later this week to get the mastery, I think I am going to burn it really slow at the start to build up SB. I found myself going far too long between SG charges. There really isn't any rush once you take out the guards to get him to the first mode change; I just found myself getting impatient.
Also for those with issues of building enough SBs, don't forget you can build SBs, wipe, use mythril revive, and start with max SB charges.![]()
Well that was annoying, 90 min of s/l later I mastered it.
Spoiler: show
I went with the pld cecil strat. Done right he can be turtled to the point the adds hit for double digits and vossler won't break 250ish. Takes some effort, but you can pretty much ignore healing anyone besides cecil.
That's exactly what I did. After reading all of the horror stories here and elsewhere, I decided to just stack my strongest melee SSBs and used a few mythril to build SB bars. It's cheesy as shit, but I'd prefer cheese strat over a fleeting sense of accomplishment and a migraine.
I refuse to burn my mythril this close to the next SSB fest!
I've yet to see Vossler split his double/triple attack across multiple characters; even with Protect and Steal Power, he's happy to hit Penelo for 3.5k on the first hit, kill her on the next (despite PLD Cecil having the second-most HP at the time), and then kick her again while she's dead. He'll also do Counter Reflect even when he already has Reflect if he's hit by piercing magic (Quake, Ruinga), which results in a character being un-healable without using an AoE (and thus risking creating new targets for Double/Triplestrike) unless I use Dispel and kiss Protect/Shell on that character goodbye as well.
I don't have access to Sentinel's Grimoire or Stoneskin II without relying on a Record Warrior, and have yet to get a SSB or multi-hit SB to deal a lot of damage quickly making the SB building+Phoenix Bonus not terribly appealing.
This fight is really, really frustrating.
Went in with I guess a bad party, because I was getting really frustrated. I finally beat it barely.
Then I went in with this party and mastered first shot. (sorry it's almost another Tyrath copy)
Only advice I can give is save your damage SBs. By the time I did the 50 to 0 push cloud/squall/rinoa SB'ed probably 3 times in a row. Don't get him under 50 without full buffs. (Seriously I just normal attacked him until SSII came back up)
What an asshole.
Are you doing the 99 vossler or ult? Ultimate vossler AI won't reflect if he's already reflected (not sure about 99). Ult vossler won't normally swap targets within a single 2/3/4x attack so with a single tank, the tank must have higher % hp at the time of the attack.
Not a huge fan of steal power/breakdown here because he'll still be above atk soft cap even with SP and FB on. What SBs/etc do you have?
