Whenever we tried our healers going into the Caster Jails, they couldn't kill it. It was also an issue when they were targeted by the Beam while in the cage.

Yeah, beam on them is the only real shitty part, it's a pretty low chance of it happening at least but it can suck when it does. WHM with PoM can kill it really fast and SCH can easily kill it too, it can just take them a pretty long time to do it and they have to be prepared to heal themselves through the digest/potential beam on them too. It's not really worth it if you have a caster to do it, but if you're stuck without one it's your only option really.
The nuisance is getting interrupted while trying to DPS as a healer in the cage. It makes WHM the desired one due to PoM allowing for Stone 3 burst in addition to quicker casts to lower number of interruptions.
Place a SCH pet near the cage and pop Rouse if they get targeted for beam, but they'll need to hit a CD themself.
In a 2 caster setup, which is the most optimal to put in the jail?
BLM obviously is better on the oil for burst purposes, however they have to participate/move for prey/tether which is generally undesirable to BLM while SMN wastes dots and takes longer to kill the oil and can multi-dot dolls/boss.
Ultimately, I am sure it doesn't matter, just curious which is optimal.
You gotta wait for the boss to come back ether way, the padlock should always be dead before the boss even lands. I don't think it really makes a difference either way though as you said, there's probably some merit in a low DPS group to sending the SMN in so that BLM can burn adds quicker on the last jail phase, but in a group with DPS worth their salt they're never gonna enrage anyway so it doesn't really matter.
One thing that does kind of mess me up as BLM is if I get the first caster cage in the second set of cages (so that once the cage is done you go into ball phase), I end up delaying my cooldown rotation until the next Enochian rotation (1 minute later) because I don't want to waste them while in the cage.
That said, I am in a group that takes a while to kill the padlock, and I haven't cleared so people with more experience way well have a better option.
Yeah blm gets the shaft on their potential dps in that fight I feel.
All I use for cage is sharp, f1, eno, f3, mana wall f4 f4 f1 then back into the mid.
During ball phase if they are being a pain and lose eno you are playing with 2.x rotation.
Buffs I sit on if I know a cage for myself is coming up, if not then blow them away.
Only cleared the fight the past two weeks and still not 100% sure how some blm's are pushing 1800+
Who is not on the padlock? All remaining melee need to peel off of what they are doing unless the last phase of killing one add, burning pad quickly then last add.
We have our warrior go into melee cages for first set and last set since it's melee/tank cage for 2nd.
So the order should be : padlock > Jag doll?
Padlock is always priority except in last phase we have Doll, pad, doll. MCH lb's padlock trying to hit one of the dolls as well.
What does Prey do during Brute Justice?
You get a small AoE Long Needle centred around the prey targets
