Edit : Was able to get Charmander and Chikorita for cheap on GTS so i'm happy

Wow I only just realized 3DS can play original DS games. So I never needed my DS Lite. I can transfer solely with 1 DS (playing JPN White) and 1 3DS (playing 4th and 6th gen ENG games).

e: Guess not. Some kind of error on one of them. I guess it doesn't like whatever regional combination I'm doing (ENG DS + JPN White) + (ENG 3DS + ENG HeartGold). Unfortunately both turn into JP script once the download play part kicks in so I can't actually make sense of it.

e2: Seems the issue is that the 4>5 move is region-locked. Has to be JPN to JPN or ENG to ENG. So to move over I'd basically need to buy ENG gen5 since original DS WFC doesn't work anymore right? May as well get either White2 or Black for Reshiram. Checking availability, it's odd to me that Tornadus/Thundurus/Landorus are unavailable in B2/W2. The other alternative is buying a JPN 4th gen and another DS capable of playing JPN games but that seems both more expensive and ultimately pointless.

If I went back to HeartGold, in order to get everything I have there over to X or OR all I'd need to do is transfer them to White first, right?

4>5 at least lets you immediately move on to the next set of 6 to transfer after the minigame. 5>6 is kind of dumb because you have to cycle between 5>Transporter>Bank>5 to refill 5's box1. Though even with that 5>6 is probably still fastest; the slowest part is just moving everything into the boxes since I don't think they had "highlight and move" mode before 6th gen. At least I couldn't find that option in White. Had to just drag one by one with stylus or cursor.

Also pity anyone whose only gen4 game is D/P/Pt and wants to port over 3>4; these games had a limit of one set of 6 pokemon transferred per 24h. HG/SS thankfully lifted that.

You can't get Houndoom at level 1, it evolves starting at 24. You can get Houndour though.

My first natural shinies were a Gloom and Rhyhorn in Diamond. Also got a shiny Litwick in JPN White but it's fucking Jolly.
