Another attempt at Day/Night splits eh? I don't know what they mean by 12 hours apart as in the canon story events of the game are 12 hours apart, or just the default time is 10am and 10pm when you start out.

Ultra Beasts sounds like Mythical Pokes.

Tentracruel actually has a niche at higher levels of battling due to Rapid Spin, although it's very rare to find shiny Pokemon that also have decent stats.

I actually realized the other day that most of the time I go with the "first" game of each pair. The ones where I don't still sort of make sense.
(Fire) Red, (Heart) Gold, (Omega) Ruby, Diamond.
White is the "2nd" but this gen had the opposite legend so really I got "Black".
Y is still the "red" version.

Based on this, Sun is the only option. Solgaleo being one of my favorite typings is a bonus.
If I was still choosing though, my deal breaker is basically exclusive legends and really only for collection purposes. I am curious how much we will see of old legends in SM. Like if ORAS was the start of a trend or just the catch up game.

e: YouTube comments on that recent trailer are interesting. Some believe Type:Null is a reimagined Missingno because it looks kind of mishmashed.

e2: Someone's interpretation (not sure if official yet) of "12 hours apart" is basically that in Moon, your AM/PM time is swapped. So noon is midnight. So if you work graveyard or something maybe consider Moon?

I don't get this either. What does the 12 hours apart mean? If they really mean one game is all night and the other is all day thats gonna be awful

That is going to be awful. I want moon but I'll get sun just to have a normal day/night cycle for catching stuff. Though I do normally play during the night after work, but still that would just mess with my head

Not really that big a deal. Get whatever version you want and just change your 3DS' time to adjust for whatever cycle you want. Not like anyone cares what your 3DS clock says.

With the past 2 generations, all the time really means is a way to pace in game events. Like mentioned, I'm guessing simply changing your DS clock would make in-game time whatever you wanted.

I don't think the day/night cycle will be an actual cycle. It seems like a fixed cycle based on where you are and what you are doing in the story and day/night will be flipped according to which version you have.

^ I think most likely thats gonna be it. Same events in moon will take place at night instead of day and day instead of night.

They haven't gone back to a day cycle since Gold/Silver have they? I really don't want them to again either.

Might be overthinking the day/night time thing, in the current gen there are very few things that require day/night cycle anyway. Only a few Pokemon need to evolve in day or night, and you can catch any pokemon anytime in the game. I don't think that part is going to change.

I'm sure what they mean by "certain things in the game will happen differently because the game is set 12 hours apart" is exactly that. Sun will perhaps have the first part of the story and Moon will have the second part. It would be very ambitious of them to give the games 2 completely different stories though so there's probably going to be a lot of overlap, but I imagine they will be fairly different from each other story-wise due to the kind of split they are doing this time. It also appears that the darker pokemon and dark types could be exclusive to Moon, since they showed the new mongoose for Sun in the same place dark Raticate will be in Moon.

I'll probably get both games anyway, but it'll be really interesting to see how far they reach with these games. I'm really liking the fact that your character is no longer a sprite but a full size rendition. Ultimate beasts just seem like legendaries rebranded so I'm curious if anything else sets them apart.
