How is a Moltres for a freaking Tauros not a good trade lol?
8th gym's puzzles I think is the only time in the series I've been legit pissed off with a required puzzle in Pokemon.
It's not even that hard I'm just fucking dumb and can't think ahead or just hit the wrong direction. Kind of nice that diagonal movement is allowed though.
Extra Pokemons i have due to Fossil searching
4x Kabuto
2x Aerodactyl
You know you can generate like any pokemon through all the ones off google? They do that all the time in that online trade center.
I understand not this queer declaration.

There are lots of ways to cheat in Pokemon, especially if you have a hacked DS.
But that takes all the fun out of it. I actually really don't like the fact that I have to question most of the shinies I see on GTS and anything I get in wonder trade. Who would wonder trade a shiny they worked really hard to get? Why not just whip up a bunch of shinies by pressing a button and hand them out willy nilly because fuck the rules you have green hair?
If you watch "pro" battles on youtube most of the pros battle with at least one (usually more) shiny pokemon on their rosters. The odds of getting a combat ready shiny are pretty decent if you're breeding them with Masuda method and a shiny charm, but it still could take quite a long time for each Pokemon. I have no doubts that many of the people playing Pokemon, whether they're just dabbling or living in endgame, hack their shinies and IVs. But...if you can get it with the press of a button and no effort, what's the point? Where's the fun?
I guess some people don't care for the thrill of finally reaching a goal after a lot of tedium and would rather just have a perfect IV shiny to battle with without having to do any of the work for it, but if all of the illegitimate shinies were suddenly erased from existence I wonder what percentage of all shinies in circulation would disappear.
I mainly brought it up because he seemed surprised that was on the GTS. You don't even need a hacked DS to do it, it can be a simple process through the various google pages that show up. As far as the rest of your post, I'm pretty sure most prominent youtubers hack their pokemon in with realistic stats. All it does is bypass the crappiest part of Pokemon games (imo.) Why would I wanna grind eggs and shit for hours when I can hack a Pokemon in with the relevant stats/moves/abilities and use it for competitive battling? I don't see how its wrong either as long as it has stats/moves that are achievable by regular means.
Prior to XYORAS I would have probably agreed with you (but still bred to an extent). Breeding for IVs in DPPtHGSS (the last time I did semi-competitive) was a colossal chore, so I honestly didn't pay it any mind and just did everything else instead (Ability, Nature, moves, EVs). But it's so easy in XYORAS due to all the sources for at least 2-3 guaranteed max IVs, Everstone being a 100% chance instead of 50% of passing nature, both parent genders being less restrictive in terms of passing HA or egg moves, etc. And of course there's the ingame IV checker and infinite loop egg-hatching routes. It's the easiest it's ever been in the series and probably takes 1/6th of the time it used to.
I don't particularly care about genned pokemon existing, it's not like I can stop it, but I just don't want to be a part of it. I don't think any less of anyone doing it no more than I think any more or less of people who play on Showdown instead of cart. Some people don't want the hassle, I can get that. As long as it doesn't fuck over people who play "legit" in some way (gets traded a badly genned thing and you get a black mark on your account or whatever happens), I don't care.
My post was geared more towards the unfortunate fact that people generate shinies. I don't care if someone pops a breedable competitive pokemon into existence. Like Seravi said, it's not difficult to breed a perfect pokemon at all anymore, and they are a dime a dozen even without hacking. Shinies though are supposed to be rare and a triumph to get one, and I'm planning on hunting them myself, so people being able to pop them into existence at a whim bugs me.
For example I got a shiny Phione in wonder trade, highly doubtful it's legit and it makes me feel kinda scummy to have it, but it's not such an interesting shiny that I'll be trying for it actively anytime soon so it just sits in my box. I don't want the potential to cheat to maybe someday ruin the way people view the legitimacy of my shiny hunting - you can only prove you didn't hack them if you stream your hunting. Not that it really matters since I might not ever be showing them off to anyone, but you never know, and if I'm going to be spending time doing it as a hobby it would be nice to not have to worry about the legitimacy of my catches coming into question. Sadly, a world without hacked shinies is not the world we live in.
But yeah I don't care one bit about legitimacy of any of the other pokemon (event/non shiny competitive) as long as it's not shit like this lol.
It's interesting to see sometimes what is and isn't stocked on GTS. Deposited a Torchic yesterday looking for a Mudkip and oddly wasn't getting any hits. Saw one up that wanted a Patrat so I traded my only one from JPN White for it, thinking it would be simple to replace. Strangely both it and Watchog have virtually 0 listings that aren't for legends.
So I guess now it's Torchic for Patrat instead!
On shinies, I'm pretty ambivalent towards encountering them other than "a visually interesting event that happens to you personally". I don't have it in me to hunt or breed for them because I feel like I would just get a wrong nature or not pass a hidden ability or something that renders it use-impaired in the one area I care about: e-bragging. I know at this point that if you really engineer it you can have pretty good odds while breeding that if it IS shiny it will inherit basically all of the things you want. Just not my thing yet though. A lot of my favorites don't have really interesting shinies anyways.
I do agree that genned shinies are shit though.
Best way to raise happiness to evolve Eevee to Espeon and Umbreon?
And best way to raise Affection hearts for Sylveon?
I did get a shiny Miltank while playing thru Alpha Sapphire, think thats the first I ever saw since playing lol.
I had a shiny Abra, but for ORAS/XY my first shiny was a Klefki >.>
You can catch a Ditto in a luxury ball, then breed with your Eevee until the resulting Eevee offspring are also in luxury balls. Soothe Bell and Luxury Ball happiness bonuses stack.
If you're playing X/Y, you can go to the Juice Shoppe in Lumiose to make a custom juice which will raise happiness once consumed, but they can also affect level and EVs, so be cautious.
Further, if you haven't capped its effort values yet, you can cram 10 of each vitamin corresponding to the EV you eventually want capped. During super training you can actually come across a soothing bag, which will also raise happiness (but won't stack with luxury ball or soothe bell bonuses).
There's also a pkmn hair stylist and/or masseuse/masseur in each game, have your Eevee wear its soothe bell during one for a one of the bigger happiness boosts in the game. Cyllange City for X/Y, Mauville City for OR/AS.
Fighting any gym leader, elite 4 member, or champion will also increase happiness a little.
Notably, fainting or consuming a bitter herb (energy powder, revival herb) will decrease happiness. Trading or storing on PKMN bank will outright reset your Eevee's happiness to 0.
Today I learned, when viewing "folder" mode on PC, you can tap and drag boxes to re-arrange them instead of manually moving the contents of boxes around. What the fuck, why did I not know this until now. My life.
