Almost done capturing everything that can be captured in OR. I guess I'll evolve whatever I can and then start up my copy of X and fill in any holes that I can. Hopefully I'll have enough that I won't have to do the mass transfers from my copies of HG and Platinum onto White for transport over that I've been dreading.

You shouldn't need to do those. You should be able to get the rest of what you need from GTS and from here...aside from the legendaries, of course. Those are always the sticking point if you don't have both versions of each game. But the entire pokedex can be filled just through XYORAS.

I've been keeping track of all the different OTs I get through GTS/wonder trade, and I'm really happy so far that I have never gotten a repeat number or trainer. Up to 115 unique trades. Still a drop in the bucket and I got a streak of like 6 Zigzagoons but I enjoy that plenty of people are still active at all times.

Some are also nice enough to trade something with a hidden ability; I'm up to Spearow, Zubat, Dratini, Torchic, Wingull, Ralts, Carvanha, Gible, Snivy, Throh, and Froakie families between my own catches and trades. Sometime down the line I might need help tracking down one for (Gale Wings) Talonflame, (Telepathy) Noivern, and (Speed Boost) Scolipede. But I can probably get Gale Wings via GTS. Scolipede's seems more difficult to track, not a lot of GTS postings for the family.

For me it's a combination of legendaries on previous carts and some really good competitive ones I don't want to let go of. I've got a 5IV Adamant Scyther on Platinum, for example.

I've been soft-resetting for this Mesprit and it seems no matter what it always has one just unforgivably bad IV.

Ugh, this one is Modest with 31s in Attack, Speed, and SpA, but it's got a 4 in HP. I don't think it's worth it to keep trying to do better just for Mesprit.

I didn't even bother trying to get good IVs on the Gold/Silver dogs even though Suicine is moderately useful.

Um anything Y exclusive maybe? I haven't gotten around to filling my dex seriously, but that would be the biggest thing for me.

With Hyper Training closing in, I'd just go for nature and screw everything else unless you will for-sure be using it in some capacity in the next month, or suspect that hyper training will have some grindy requirements.

I was planning on wiping Y and playing through it again (after getting Zygarde, Articuno, and Mewtwo) since I remember literally nothing about it, but OR has ruined me; Flying directly to routes/dungeons and area/Dexnav on the bottom screen ALONE are enough to make me feel like this would be a chore

I'm going to wipe my X after Zygarde, Articuno, and Mewtwo so that I can get good Zapdos. Unfortunately I didn't know that your starter determined your bird, and Zapdos is one I actually might use so I can't just get a random one off the GTS.

I'm going to guess Hyper Training will be like Ability Capsules in ORAS. Kind of grindy but not too hard. 200 BP or something like that to max an IV probably.

If you haven't gained any EXP with it you can plug its stats into an IV calculator; legends in gen6 are guaranteed 3 maxed (31) IVs at minimum. Otherwise you can just post nature and 3 top IVs ("can't be beat") from the IV checker in the Pokemon center of your game's Battle Maison/Resort area.

For x/y the iv checker is in Kiloude city. I don't think rata's there yet though? His safari still doesn't have a third slot for me anyways.

Edit: yeah, you did fine on filling it out. You did use the old iv calc, but it's good enough to know you got atk/def/spd capped.

Been playing OR a bit lately trying to catch the legendaries for Sun/Moon. Decided to go back and hunt for a shiny Zangoose as I've had no luck in the past. Couple Zangoose in... shiny. At work, too!

Next day figure I'll give Vulpix a try. Vulpix area really sucks for the search thing... second Vulpix I manage to pick up on search.. shiny AND male. I already have one someone bred and traded me, but it's on my X game that I'm still looking for. They wanted a female and got male.

Wtf? Seriously. The only shinies I have ever gotten were a (most likely) hacked Mewtwo through WT and some random crap in X while I was level grinding in Victory Road. Oh, I forgot about the WT Salamance as well.

Wonder what I should go for next...
