How do you rematch trainersi n ORAS?
I'm trying to rematch Elliot on route 106, it says Battle ready, but when i speak to him he doesnt battle me
Sure you have the right fisherman? Should just be automatically when you talk to them.
Yeah you just talk to them and they rematch you.
If you're hoping for items from them though, good luck. I haven't gotten a single one off any of them except the Destiny Knot (the first time, thankfully).
Whooooo, Timid Reshiram on my first try.

Not that I read but the info might have been omitted. Still, since you can only fight them once a day, if you need to fight them more than a few times you're looking at one item a week which is...ehhhh... if you're looking for stones like I was, it's practically worthless.
Does saving before a fight and soft resetting until you get an item work?

Evo stones silenka? Secret base pals are the way to go for sure. In the course of getting garchompite I got 40-50 of fire/water/leaf/thunder and ~20ish of the rest.
You said so before, but a lot of it banks on having good luck and 1k flags so you can use them twice a day, which I'm far too lazy to do. I do have them for single use a day but most of the time they give me everstones
After breeding competitive pokemon, what steps do you guys generally take? EV training first and then leveling to 100 or some other way?
Yeah, gotta ev train first or else the blisseys will screw up your spread.
Welp, I think I may have traded away my absolite on the gts without realizing +_+. Only one per game yeah, can't get extras?
IIRC Mega stones can't be GTS traded; double check to see if it's in your bag somewhere. I dunno if it's supposed to just not allow the trade or if it will remove it like Bank does. Though if it is gone I can probably spare my Y one since I'm gonna restart that file someday anyways.
I'm 1/2 suspecting I haven't gotten it yet too. I've been through the safari zone with the Mach bike but I don't think the Acro which is the one I need to get it, so I might have over exaggerated =X
That said, I started up a new team for the hell of it. Charmander, protean Froakie, contrary Snivy, Riolu and Gible. Quite a bit happier with it than my original team
Contrary Serperior is the shit. It wrecks.
This dude Verlisify on Youtube, besides having tons of very awesome and helpful battle commentary videos showcasing some crazy and unexpected strategies, has covered pretty much every Pokemon individually in a "How to Use" series that talks about each Pokemon's potential moveset, usage, stats and checks. I've watched hours of videos on his channel and not only have a learned a shitton about competitive battling but it's also gotten me really excited for building cool and unexpected teams. Like this team centered around Belly Drum Snorlax or um...this one...where a dude manages a sweep with an Igglybuff...
...yeah
As far as I can tell, VGC (the official Pokemon battle format) fucking sucks. Too little variation thanks to the rules, wifi battles are where it's at I guess.
VCG format changes every year btw. Them allowing legendary mons this year was new.
The thing about Uber Pokemon is that they are so strong that any format where they are allowed, they can't help but become dominant. Battle spot is nice in that it removes the most powerful ones, but it's still dominated by a few Pokemon (like Mega Kang). That's the value in Smogon's tier system where the progressive tiers create space for weaker Pokemon including unevolved ones.
Verlis can get very ceative with builds and he really does find the little tricks between HA's and potential moves that a lot of people overlook. Umbreon remains one of my favorite pokes to this day because I found him using it with a few different unique builds.
That said, VGC's bread and butter is in the doubles format. VGC 1 on 1 just becomes very slow and boring, but the 2v2 is very exciting and limits how much strength and influence the big hitters (like Mega Kang, Legendaries, etc) can carry even if they end up dominating the format.
Smogon tiers offer variety and a lot of flavor, but can quickly become convoluted and mired in the amount of rules and conditions that it has.
I thought the exact same about VGC when first getting into competitive play. Maybe its just my personal taste after doing it for a while now but I can't stand Smogon tiers when playing online anymore, especially 1v1, because VGC just hits that sweet spot for me.
My issue with Smogon's tiers is I feel they're just a little too "ban it to Ubers"-happy. Specifically, I can understand why things like things that can be either physical or special with drastically different counters (Lucario Blaziken megas) are disputed and Mega Kang is what it is I guess, but I dunno why say Mega Mawile is still considered too strong for OU singles.
I've been a fan of wifi-battle format since 4th gen's PBR which was I think the first game to go with team preview (Singles pick3, Doubles pick4), ahead of 5th gen's main series games. Don't really like the slow pace of 6v6 Singles and, as mentioned before, entry hazards. Stealth Rock specifically. At the same time though I have to admit I haven't actually played another human since 4th gen, and still haven't since I'm just collecting good Dittos and dex progress. So armchair admiral opinions, grain of salt etc.
I think I'm "done" with GTS for the moment; I've traded for everything that I can't catch in OR's wild or dexnav, or that is only on mirage areas. I don't know what to really get on GTS anymore, if anything. Other than trying to figure out what people would be willing to give up their legends for, like trade evo things or something.
e: So I wasn't aware that GTS listings actually are listed in order of newest to oldest, so there usually isn't much point in scrolling too far in. Nice to know, and I see why people advise reposting trades every so often.
Also, score. Elekid I got traded came with an electirizer.
This is why I enjoy Triple Battles more than any other format. Teamwork/setups can overcome individually strong pokemon, and a lot of cool things are viable. But it also opens the doors for a lot of silly setups that need hard counters, so I can see why it's probably not the best competitive format.
