Damn, I got both the Ditto and Elekid islands today. I don't wanna go to work now![]()

I've seen Magby and Happiny, no Elekids yet.
Don't forget you can dexnav an electirizer or magmarizer if you see elekid/magby.
I'm trying not to be too concerned with IVs because I know Hyper Training is coming up (trying for Adamant or Jolly Ho-oh now) but I'm a little worried about the whole bottle cap thing. It makes me think there's going to be a finite number of times you'll be able to do the training.
Yeah, hence my dilemma. I want to farm good Dittos but I also want to farm a bunch of electrizers for GTS purposes. Will probably just go with Ditto today though; if I play my cards right I can probably get Electivires via GTS anyways and I see the Elekid island pretty often.
What I did was teach thief to my manectric. 20-30 min was enough to get a handful. Also good for heart scales, lucky eggs, etc.
I'm speculating that Hyper Training might only allow you to change one IV on each pokemon. That way, breeding isn't completely replaced. It would help fill in the gaps as far as pokemon you can't seem to get that last important IV on.
I came to the conclusion I did about VGC (at least this year's format) because I watched an intro to the format video by someone who is very successful in it and he basically confirmed that there are roughly 20 pokemon used on the doubles teams and every team includes at least one primal (usually 2), of which there are only 3 currently. Yaaaaawn. I understand that competitive endgame in any game usually boils down to the number-crunched "best build" simply by nature of the fact that there's always something that's better than everything else, but there are over 700 pokemon and I'd much rather watch and play formats that can utilize a lot more of them. Smogon is sometimes a good gauge of a mon's potential, sometimes not, but I respect what they're doing and Pokemon Showdown teambuilder is definitely a useful tool.
Either way all of this is going to change come November XD But it's good to have a nice solid foundational understanding of the current meta.
As for Elekid and Magby, in my experience it's quite easy to get their items using dexnav and it shouldn't take you too long to collect a few. Iirc you can also get those items through battle points though so grabbing a ditto to breed with and pumping out a battle maison team is probably more worth your while if your time is limited. Especially considering there are some evolution items that can only be obtained through battle maison. I'm still waiting on like 3 items while I finish building my team, my living dex is at 99% lol.
That would be disappointing but understandable if that's how they play Hyper Training. It would make breeding easier as well while not making it obsolete.

There's no way Hyper Training is only one IV maxed. The sample shown in the trailer or scan or whatever had a Pikachu with middling IVs in all areas vs maxed IVs in all areas. It's possible it's a purposely misleading screen cap but I'd favor the theory that bottle caps are merely going to be very grindy. Either a lot of poke miles, BP, or some secondary currency like say 100 heart scale knockoffs from a new gen7 Pokemon. That wimpy bug maybe.
It does require level 100 regardless, so it's another small grind additionally. If I was extra sadistic I would also say it requires whatever the equivalent of gen6's pentagon mark will be for gen7. IE, can't HT imported Pokemon. I'm hoping that isn't the case and I don't think there is a reason it would be that way. But food for thought.
That said, best first use of that shit: Max a Ditto if you didn't have one already.
Well, they did say there will be silver and gold caps iirc. Silver for one iv and gold for all six?
Hot damn, GTS trade chain successful.
Speed Boost Torchic > Sylveon > Electivire > Kyogre
I just ran Ho-oh out of moves trying to capture him.. and he used Struggle.. and killed himself. Bastard.
Got him this time on like the third or fourth Ultra Ball. Funny how I burned through 20+ on the previous fight.
Now to go get the Beast Trio.
Oh, guess I should throw this out, too. Let me know if you add me and I'll try and add you back.

Also details on Bank were announced: gen1 and gen6 will be able to be sent into gen7 via Bank but will be locked into gen7-only when they arrive (as in, can be banked but can't return to an older gen). Not unexpected, but nice to have a confirmation.
The Moon version monkey's repeat move seems really interesting. Wonder if it's unique to it, and how fast it can be.
so I guess that video confirms for sure Moon is set only at night and sun only during the day? since Lycanroc Midday and Midnight Forms are based on the game they evolve in?
Moon wins this round 100%.
Video also confirms no new eeveelutions it looks like.
That Pikachu Z move had me cracking up. I also wondered if we were going to get a way to dress up pokemon like in Platinum, I wonder if Pokemon Refresh will allow you to do that or if it's just grooming them. And will that replace Pokemon Amie or will it be additional to it?
I love the Orangutan guy's design in Moon, but I like the Rockruff evo in Sun more aesthetically than its Moon counterpart. Actually the color palettes this time around are so obviously different from the older games. Fewer primary colors, more teals and aquas and pastels in general. The colors are more vibrant and beautiful, I love it.
Bit sad about no new Eeveelutions. But perhaps they wanted to get the older ones more competitive first >_>
Also the Lycanroc sun ability Sand Rush is much better the moons abilities, so i'm beginning to wonder if adding bottlecaps to train IV's is because breeding optimal movesets might become harder?
For example, Lycanroc evolves differently in both games, but Suns has Sand Rush, but maybe moons has an overall better moveset, so it'd be like, breed moon egg moves onto a Rockruff and trade it to sun to evolve it into a Lycanroc with optimal move set and Sand Rush, makes me honestly hopeful the starters final evolutions are similar, because nocturnal owls and cats act differently from those awake during the day.
Must get monkey, must name him Harambe
I hope Umbreon gets a little bit of a boost. And I honestly didn't expect a new eeveelution. Since Gen 2 it seems to be every other gen.
Orangutan's Instruct is probably like a lot of the other similar 'special' status type moves in that it will probably act last (-7 priority?) unless boosted somehow.
