Pikachu Z move dance is hysterical.

I know, especially with all the BG players, trading between each other for the different versions is not going to be an issue, but all this stuff does make me want to get both versions. fuck.

But I guess when I do finished collecting everything in Pokemon X, that means Sun/Moon won't be as time consuming since gotta catch em all is one of the larger time drains in the game so far. 50+ hours after just finished my 4th badge lol. And I can always use X as the easy way to breed and transfer over better IV's (once i get into breeding).

I think I'm gonna catch another set of Synchronizers and leave good Dittos/ingamemons in OR, use Y for resets for event distributions (and eventually dupe Mewtwos/Kantobirds), but move the bulk force over to Sun.

To my understanding, Refresh is basically Amie+. The JP version trailer even had the Amie petting I believe (linking below, nothing new vs the english trailer but has a few different perspectives). Serebii said something about clothing maybe being dyeable with that specific Festival Coins currency. Also mentioned Refresh has features with practical ingame effects, such as removing status ailments. So now you can have your MGS3 field treatment in your Pokemons.

The Pikachu Z dance is great but actually throwing it up in the air is the best. Eevee one is cheating with the lowres nonmoving models of the 8 eeveelutions but it's cool regardless. I love the personality of the unique Z-moves, and the potential for them to be more than just damage moves now is pretty exciting. Food for thought: Mega Rayquaza Z-move, since it doesn't need a Mega stone to Mega. Mega.

I don't think it's been mentioned in a trailer yet but Lycanrock is supposed to have a Rock-type priority move, Accelrock or something. I think the day form was using it in the english trailer.

BTW, flavor of the Moon monkey is pretty trippy:

Oranguru live solitary lives deep in the forests and do not usually take much action. Instead, they position themselves high up in the trees to meditate. Long ago, people thought that Oranguru were humans who dwelled in the forest depths, so they called them “the people of the forests.” Oranguru is kind to the other Pokémon living in the forest, providing medicine for injured Pokémon and food for the hungry. Oranguru sometimes act on their own initiative and will use items that only humans normally use. From a Trainer’s perspective, they can be hard Pokémon to handle at times. Allegedly, there have been sightings of Oranguru using Poké Balls! The fan-like objects held by Oranguru are handmade by the Oranguru themselves. These fans appear to be made of layers of leaves bound together with Oranguru’s own fur.

Actually just thinking, Eevee can learn Baton Pass!

Eevee + Everstone + Stored Power could be pretty potent with basically a Z-move Geomancy+.

Eevee Z move is pretty badass. Summon the strength of the posse! Look at those smug ass faces.

I would have loved to have seen an Alolan Eeveelu for some of the remaining types. I know there was speculation of there being new ones through the "leaked" name list, and I wouldn't totally rule them out just yet. Maybe the Z move only uses the previous forms before Alola because the Alolan ones were "just" discovered? Who knows.

Still liking the Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales the best out of the "new" Pokemon.

    Edit:
Is there a place in ORAS to buy the different balls like X/Y? I'd like to catch certain Pokemon in a color coordinated ball.

They're in the basic pokemarts, but you'll have to hit a couple towns to get them all.

the Eevee one reminds me a lot of Megamans Final Smash in that theres a roster of all of em.

It looks awesome. The Z moves seem cool.

I feel like we're either not going to see new Megas this gen, with the focus instead on Z-moves and Alolan forms, or they're just being smart and not showing ALL of their cards in trailers this time. Would put a higher chance on Megas in whatever the 2nd set of games ends up being (third version, sequel version pair, or remake pair).

Speaking of Megas though, you think the dance part will get cut on repeated use / wifi battle use of Z-moves, and just cut to the the actual move? I feel like there's not enough of a cut like the "fade to white" in Mega evolving (trainer touching their stone part of the animation) for them to do that smoothly, but gotta admit Z-moves might get old if you have to sit through the whole 20 seconds or so every single battle. But there's always the possibility that they don't end up being worth it competitively also and end up being comparatively like holding a Power Herb for one-time Solarbeam, so who knows.

Megas have some issues, especially competitively. The base forms of the pokemon are often rendered useless in the face of their mega, and I'm sure it makes buffing their base form to be more useful more complicated. I wouldn't be surprised at all if megas were the 6Gen gimmick and are being completely shoved aside for Z moves in the 7th gen. It adds more combinations of things you can do with different pokemon on the same team, considering you can only have one mega on your team at a time. Plus, well...if we had to find mega stones for 100+ pokemon in each game, it would start to get pretty ridiculous item-wise. I won't be sad at all if we don't see any more mega evolutions. It's not really a sustainable thing if you look at it from a game design perspective, unless they do something like boil down every mega stone into one generic stone you can pop on any pokemon that has a mega evolution.

It'll still be hype if we get some new megas of course, I just won't complain if we don't.

I'm still of the mind Nintendo stopped caring about competitive the second they added stealth rock.

I'm honestly surprised Stealth Rock has never been adjusted to either layers or limited number of "hits" per use or something.

e: Took a "non-canon" break from Ditto island to check IVs of what I got so far (saved on island so I can reset back to it). Of 13 3-star Dittos, 2 so far had 4 maxed IVs (HP Def SpA Speed, and HP Atk SpA SpD). I'm holding out for a 5 IV if I can, but I'm liking the results so far. Considering that's only 13 of 137 encountered, and I accidentally knocked one 3IV out also. Using a Mega Mawile as my catcher, with False Swipe for when my Quick Balls inevitably fail. Learning to really appreciate the PP/HP O-powers on this extended stay away from civilization. I can basically stay here (with 4 pickup mons too) until I run out of balls or Repels. Side tip for saving Repels: bunnyhopping in place on Acro Bike will count as steps for recharging Dexnav/hidden encounter, but won't take steps away from Repels (at least I don't think it does).

Eevee's Z-Move should have been Spiral Metamorphosis. Missed opportunity

Got a shiny Steelix with perfect IVs from Wonder Trade awhile ago. That's not suspicious at all.

Oh shit. Caught a shiny Ditto. Too bad it has bad IVs, but hey it's shiny. Pretty deep into a chain (maybe 15-20 or so, not really counting) and search level 197. Only the 4th wild shiny I've ever seen (Diamond's Oddish/Rhyhorn, White's Litwick)

Also after seeing it enough I only just now noticed the critical throw animation has the ball shake twice real quick in midair before it hits the ground. That's a really cool touch.

I never noticed that about the critical throw animation, but I definitely always hear the whistling sound it makes as it flies through the air. I only just recently learned that the more your pokedex is filled, the higher your chance is for crit captures, which is nice.

The other side of the coin is that Mega forms are the only thing that make some Pokemon, especially the more common ones, viable. Things like Beedril and Pigeot just don't have the stat spreads to viable in competitive formats without Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution is a great equalizer that preserves the inherent variety of basic Pokemon.

I don't exactly feel like it's entirely warranted but I almost want to make 2 living dex's, one to stay in gen6 and one to come forward into gen7. Main reason being I don't want to find myself in a situation where I, for some reason, need to breed something in gen6 but no longer have it available. I sort of created this problem in my White where I stole everything worthwhile before realizing I could've also caught Kyurem and the musketeers first for extra trade fodder or something.

Or more to the point, I hope we get all the relevant move tutors right in Sun/Moon this time instead of having to wait for either the 3rd version or the 2nd pair of games.

Since there's no going backwards and we can't bring items forward, I'm going to keep most everything that I can on my OR.
