I...was really not expecting that typing for Decidueye.

I think Flaming Wrestler Kitty looks way cooler in motion, that name is really uncreative though (not as bad as shit like "Seel", but still).

I'm sitting here wondering if the League's going to be a post-credits thing like it was in BW. Sounds good to me.

Did not expect Grass/Ghost for Rowlet evo. Thats pretty fricking cool, and a lot better for competitive than Grass/Dark.

Now just to see what their HA's are if theyre competitive viable.

Thematically it draws some cool parallels to Greninja as well. I was honestly not expecting it to change typing at all.

The Tapu Z-move apparently does a fixed 75% of target's current HP in damage; basically it's a one-time Super Fang+1.

I think its worth noting that Red/Blue look considerably older (mid 20's as opposed to early teens in RGBY and mid to late teens in HGSS).

All I ask for is a badass Red Battle Theme remix.

    Also, yay for more Cynthia.

Honestly my only complaint is that I was planning on using ghost oricorio, but don't have a need to now.

You have no idea how much this is bothering me. Not in a way that takes away the coolness of it, but trying to rationalize a timeline where they are that old, yet Wally looks the same as ORAS (ignoring the meta reason of just wanting to re-use his model), yet FRLG+RSE supposedly took place at the same time is weird. Even if Gen6-7 is its own thing, how long ago are we assuming Red+Blue takes place now?

Though the cool part about their apparent age is that they're more or less the same age as people who basically grew up with the series.

That Tapu Z-move made me bust out laughing in joy. Going all fucking Yellow Devil.

Guessing "Dee-cid-doo-eye". Deciduous + Deadeye pun.

If FR/LG is the same time as RSE, and RSE is still the same timeline as ORAS, then X/Y are definitively later than ORAS right? I remember an NPC in X/Y talking about Blue visiting the area.

Not sure about that, though for whatever it's worth I think XY is supposed to be around the same time as B2W2.

e: Some things to note about each Tapu's terrain, since you know who the hell ever used them right?

All terrains have the caveat of "doesn't apply to any Levitate or Flying pokemon". So fliers will be hit by priority in Psychic terrain and take regular Dragon damage in Misty terrain, etc.

Grassy: Boosts power of Grass moves by 50%, halves damage from Earthquake, Magnitude, and Bulldoze. Recovers 1/16th HP at the end of each turn. Activates Gogoat's HA Grass Pelt (Defense+50%).

Misty: Halves damage from Dragon moves, and basically "Safeguard terrain".

Electric: Boosts power of Electric moves by 50%. Prevents Sleep. Alola Raichu gets double speed due to Surge Surfer.

Psychic: Boosts Psychic moves 50%. Prevents being hit by priority moves (just damaging?).

While I think Misty and Psychic are gonna be popular, Grassy and Electric probably will have their place as well. Also I forgot all Tapus have the Nature's Madness attack, which is basically Super Fang (and is probably the requisite for their specific Z-move). Depending on how good they are on their own you may even see multiples on a team; Tapu Koko (Electric/Fairy) under Grassy Terrain for example is only weak to Poison and is almost certainly faster than Tapu Bulu.

One major downside to anyone who liked them is that Triple and Rotation are suspiciously absent from Battle Spot formats. I doubt they're gone forever but they might be getting relegated to friend battles only.

It's still weak to Ground no? Only earthquake, bulldoze, and magnitude are halved under Grassy Terrain and while Earthquake is one of the most common ground type moves there are others that see decent usage like Earth Power, Precipice Blades, and Drill Run.

Eh, was running under the assumption that non-EQ Ground moves are somewhat uncommon. Especially considering Doubles format. Regardless, Bulu's existance might be a thorn in the side of EQ-use anyways.

Think some of those presales go to Pokemon Go. So many people who have never touched a Pokémon game before in their lives are now jumping on board with Sun/Moon.

Precipice Blades is pretty common assuming you're playing a format where P-don is allowed. Earth Power sees niche use by Special Attacking ground users.

Cheesy beyond belief but I'm growing fond of the live-action trailers they keep doing. It's really heartening to see that it's not just thrown-together garbage.
