I mean, I enjoyed this gen a LOT more than other gens. Frankly the pokemon formula works pretty well as it, but the game was starting to age a bit and this added just the right about of fresh to it. I don't think it necessitates a reboot, but may require examining how they approach development of the titles with concerns to the NX and that could be what they meant by reboot rumors.

S/M were great games IMO though as usual they take some head-scratching steps back and GF continues to show they're like a decade behind the rest of the gaming industry in terms of standard features.

It had probably the best plot/characters of the franchise, but it also had long, drawn out and unskippable (!) cutscenes. They took out long-standing annoyances like HMs and allowed for IV increasing, but made the highest level Trainers in the game have level 60 Pokemon so you have few choices for grinding. The highly convenient online play of Gen VI being placed on the bottom screen was replaced with the Festival Plaza, which stops being fun after about 10 minutes, then you realize you'd need to invest hours and hours into it to get anything useful out of it. Unlike Gen VI some of the newer Pokemon are actually hard to find, but that makes the fact that they add less Pokemon now stand out even more.

Also SOS battles were executed pretty terribly. They're mostly just annoying and what it offers was filled in much better by Horde Battles + DexNav.

In other news, anybody here with Moon version want to swap UBs? Would love a Naive Pheromosa here.

I still have 3 Pheromosa sat in my box. Not sure of their natures, will have a look later after work. I am interesting in swapping some UBs as well!

This is my biggest complaint of this gen. Missing the dexnav so bad.

Festival Plaza, DexNav being removed, and leveling options are my complaints as well. Adding in Hyper Training and then making it super difficult to get to level 100 was kind of a dick move lol.

Just gotta hope the next game(s) this gen fix things I guess.

I think a real easy fix for Festival Plaza is to have the option to install a secret fort type of deal for those on your friends list, which would solve the leveling to 100 issue because you could repeat the Blissey hijinks of ORAS.

DexNav being gone sucks, and horde battles need to become a series staple. That said, I do not mind SOS fights when they have a reason like Corsola and Mareanie or Gyarados and Magikarp. It would also work well for pokemon like Combee/Vespiqueen, Magnemite/Magneton, and Shellder/Slowpoke/Slowbro. If there was a way to make honey/sweet scent only call horde fights and regular battles while walking through grass can prompt SOS fights then I think it would be a great balance.

Festival Plaza already has a decent way to level using the Rare Kitchens, the problem is how random getting the specific 5* booth is. If they had made it so you could spend coins to upgrade an existing booth to a higher tier it wouldn't be nearly as bad though the coin grind would get tedious. Hyper Training being limited to max level pokemon makes no sense when pretty much all official competitive rule sets for Pokemon involve using level 50 pokemon. SOS battles would be solved just by letting you throw pokeballs when there are 2 pokemon out so you could catch multiple 4 IV pokemon from a single chain and you wouldn't be sitting there fighting the RNG AI who suddenly decides it wants to call for help successfully 50 times in a row now that you don't want them to.

I really don't see Horde battles becoming a thing again because of the frame rate issues the games already suffer from just showing 3 or more models on screen. Plus they are only useful for convenience of EV training when it only takes a few extra minutes to do the same thing with SOS battles.

Take something that can cause para/etc. They won't cfh with it. I can vouch for para, I assume sleep and other status effects also prevent it.

It's actually worse than it initially appears. 5* Rare Kitchen is a Sun-exclusive, so Moon players HAVE to buy it from another player. When I get off my lazy ass and start soft-resetting for mine, will let you guys know if you want to get it for your plazas.

The 3DS is really being pushed to the limit in this one it seems so I can sort of understand why Hordes (and Triple/Rotation) are gone, but I also don't really care when Pelago means I can have EV-trained teams going whether I'm at work or just playing other games. I do unfortunately think that Festival Plaza is here to stay solely because you have to consider inter-generation functionality with the next set of games, combined with that I have serious doubts the current iteration will ever have an overhaul. Seems like it would have been intuitive to have friends either auto-VIP or have a third list with friends on it (like Gen6 fucking did), but whatever.

At the very least I hope the next games, if they keep SOS, do 2 things:

1: Limit it to only when Adrenaline Orb is in effect.
2: Cut out that fucking camera pan up to the sky.

All "label" status effects work, though grass-type status moves (Spore/Sleep Powder/Stun Spore/etc) don't work on Grass types and Paralyze doesn't work on Electric, so in the case of my Stun Spore Ribombee I had for my playthrough team I had the unfortunate habit of not being able to stop Grass or Electric types from SOSing.

If it wasn't mentioned, Dark-types now have an immunity to enemy moves who have their priority boosted by Prankster. I kind of like the subtle status immunities they keep adding (this and the above as well as Fire not being Burn-able).

As far as QoL updates for SOS battles, i'd like some reliable way to see what ability the summoned pokemon has, DexNav showed the ability and number of max IV's prior to engaging in the fight, something like that would be nice, or at least a way to check it mid battle >.>

If you need to you can use stuff like Gastro Acid, Entrainment, Skill Swap etc to see a Pokemon's ability. But yeah it's really annoying to do, especially with Geodude which you need to keep a Damp Pokemon out for so they dont just blow themselves up.

Nature matters more for stats (and IVs can be fixed now anyways), and with purple blob sex machine the gender of good IV-ones doesn't matter.

That said, good luck to crazy people who want to breed for shiny female Salandit.

I tried sos'ing a female and that's how I managed to get the one above. Tried using the same one with a rando male I caught and then tried egg hatching to try and get another female. 9 eggs later, all males hatched ._.

At this point I might just try for a different fire type lol. Mind you, this isn't for competitive play but just going through the story.

So lucky I got mine early on through wonder trade. He was the one I was looking most forward to. That disguise ability has been so helpful. <3 Mimikyu

Anyone have a Jolly Protean Froakie or Bold/Modest Regenerator Slowpoke? I've got 4-5IV Adamant Scythers or Torchics with Technician and Speed Boost to trade if so.

If people aren't already aware, the pokemon bank update is available to access your older gen pokemon.
