I haven't played in about a week, but the yen to fish calls me still. I've had a rainy summer and it's been just fantastic.

Speaking of batteries: I got a lightning rod as a reward for a museum donation. How the hell does it work?

Put it in your farm. (or elsewhere, I guess)

When it storms, it'll absorb lightning. 24 hours later it produces battery.

It might absorb lightning, so any particular rod may not produce anything, after a storm, though putting enough down should net you some batteries, which are great if you want to diamond farm, in the late game.

Work in progress but feels pretty good :D

    spoiler for table breaking
    Spoiler: show

Not really too sure what to do with the northern part of the farm, or the part directly west of the lake.

The blank lane on the leftmost part of the farmed portion also annoys me. I don't want the path to be longer than 3 wide cause it goes so well with the greenhouse. I think maybe I'll just throw beehives in that lane, and try to plant flowers nearby? idk :/

I was going to set up some kegs directly west of the greenhouse, but I hate the sound they make so I refuse to put any on my farm. Probably put a slime thingy over there somewhere.

It should look overall better once my trees start blooming

    any suggestions?

edit: program crashes when I go on the highest resolution so I had to chop the top part off.

kegs/jars/Crystalariums. Your barn/coop yard is a lot bigger then it needs to be and could be moved down to add more space up top. You could also put your slime house up there, if you wanted to raise them, after you get the slime ring.

Could put lightning rods on the left side, next to your plants, just to fill the space out.

I'm planning on adding more barn/coops, that's why there's so much free space.

I hate the sound kegs make, so I don't plan on keeping any outside. I already stuffed all the corners of my greenhouse with kegs, which covers about half of my ancient fruit harvest. I'm honestly OK just keg'ing the NQ quality fruit and straight up selling the HQ ones. It's not like I need anymore money, lol. (I could probably stuff a barn with some if I cared to, but I think I'm good)

I'm trying to go mostly for aesthetics at this point.

Don't forget that you don't have to build all your junk on the farm. I actually keep furnaces in the mines. It's got easy access to Clint and I can just dump ores in there when I go into the elevator, and then swap in more when I leave.

I haven't tried but I'd be willing to bet you can grow crops outside your farm plot. Not that you'd want to, but basically the only real restrictions you have outside your farm are the inability to chop trees and build structures.

I wish you could build a pantry to go with the fridge. It's very convenient to be able to cook right out of the fridge, but I want more storage space that works like that.

I want a wardrobe to store my hats and shoes and rings.

I want a weapon locker for all my swords.

Regular trees grow in an xoxoxox pattern whereas fruit trees grow in an xooxooxoox pattern. It's also possible to grow trees along touching the top wall and next to the greenhouse.

An easy and effective solution is a deluxe barn or two and storing the kegs inside. Very space efficient and thankfully quiet.

So my question then, is why do they grow right next to each other, when I leave undeveloped parts of my farm alone? Why would me, plopping a non-fruit tree seed down, right next to another non-fruit tree, be treated differently then a seed falling down and growing right next to another tree? This is the mechanic I don't understand/haven't seen explained.

If you mean grow they can be planted next to each other but the 1 tile space around the biggest tree will prevent seeds from progressing past the sapling stage. If you mean that you're literally having full sized trees grow next to each other then that's completely new to me. Maybe post a screenshot to show what you have going on?

I think what he's saying is that they can grow right next to each other in nature but he can't plant them right next to each other and have them grow?

    This. Here's a picture of what I mean: https://bucket.bluegartr.com/2394591...49144a2c4d.jpg

In the circle, one of the trees matured just a day or two ago, and, if trees need that one space between each other, then how/why did it mature? You can see other examples of seeds that have sprouted into trees, and eventually, they will mature; it's how I've kept a stable supply of wood. I let the seeds grow and chop trees down when enough have matured to make the time worth while.

So then, if I plant them together, just like in the circle, why don't the trees seem to mature? That's what I haven't figured out yet.

    *edit*

Just learned something about lightning rods. I'm replying my curent day, after quitting last night, but I distincly remember checking how my lightning rods did, producing batteries. I only had like three, but looking now, I have about 8 or so. Seems the bateries are generated just after the start of a day, so you can somewhat re-roll your chances if you ended up with a low amount. I know crops don't work this way, but I wonder what else does.

According to the wiki, for non-fruit trees, they can grow adjacent to other saplings, but the growth rate is just slowed. However, they *cannot* grow tree-adjacent, so basically you have two saplings that slowed each other down until finally one finished growing, thus impeding the other one.

I feel like I've seen this with tappers. Seemed like they weren't filled when I woke up, and then as I'm leaving the barn, hey, a couple of trees have resin.

Is it a coincidence that you got those big mushrooms so close together, or is there a way to make that happen?

So there's no way to move buildings (Barns, silo, etc.) without destroy them huh?

My barn is so unorganized compared to some of the ones posted in this thread

Only via save file editing; I think ConcernedApe wants to make it a feature, in the future, but no ETA.
