any tips or useful starting info? might try this later
- Fish early, and fish hard, in the first month, as it's where you'll get the money to do any farming. Use the money to buy some strawberries, at the Easter festival, and make a quick turn around on them so you can buy Blueberries in the summer. Use that money to buy Cranberries, in the fall.
- Do the HQ crops in year one as well. You'll want the greenhouse sooner, then later as you can grow anything in it year round, which is where you'll want your Ancient Fruit to grow, once you get one.
- Make some Seed Makers, as it's likely where you'll get your first ancient seeds. Mulch your Ancient fruit until you have enough to fill your greenhouse.
- When summer hits, and the Sauna opens up, go there every day and get 2x as much done, as it quickly regenerates your energy. Farm in the morning and finish up the mines, in the evening.
- Make Quality sprinklers from the ore you get; you'll never spend much energy on watering after you've made them, freeing you up tremendously to do other things.
- Tap some Pine, Oak, and Maple trees early on as you need their sap to make higher profit equipment like Jars, Barrels, and Beehives.
- You're not limited to your farm; you can place things and plant trees anywhere; I think farming is actually limited to your farm though. Putting equipment in your barns, the mine, and other high-traffic areas saves space on your farm for other things. You can even plant grass and have it grow, in peoples houses.

If you're talking about my screenshot, I hacked the position of my buildings to put it there, otherwise the game would force 1 tile of space <.<
Speaking of which... If you don't care about "cheating", there is a save editor out there that lets you easily move your buildings around. It has a mini map and everything.
Just don't look at all else it can do to avoid any temptation. D:
awmigawd why didn't I name one of my chickens Enkidu
Don't worry about it. I named my horse Dog.
I named the dog Indiana
How do you guys handle your storage? I'm having serious FFXI deja vu because I keep a huge row of chests in my house and I'm constantly filling them up and running out of space. But that's probably because I'm being a pack rat and keeping 3 of everything just in case I need it. So how do you guys do your storage of stuff?
And another question: is there any point to attend the festivals more than once? Like I want to attend all of them at least one time to see what happens, but is there ever any point to redoing them or is it always the same?
Packratting is good if you do quests or can afford to process harvests into wine/juice and pickles/jam for more dollarydoos. I know it really helped when I had a pretty large stockpile of tree saps and when the beehive and keg recipes got changed it was no big deal. Lots of players got kinda pissed when they went to build a keg empire to chase that ancient fruit wine money only to find out they'd need 100-200 sap off slow producing trees.
If you plan on getting married then I also recommend moving chests outside and potentially inside a deluxe barn next to the house otherwise your spouse complains constantly and it drains relationship.
So I just found an item duplication bug. I was at the level 90 mine reward chest and got the Obsidian Edge sword, then I held up a white algae and re-checked the chest and the empty chest gave me another Obsidian Edge, then a third, and I assume it would just keep going. I don't know if it's an exploit because the weapons and stuff you get from these chests can't be sold for money. But there you go.

The adventurer's guild buys weapons.
I don't think they buy the ones found in chests. Only way to delete those is to put them in a chest you make and then blow them up.
How long does it normally take to go from 0 to 2 hearts? Trying to get access into the NPC's bedroom that sells farm animals for the mayor's purple underwear.
Takes 250 "affinity" or whatever you want to call it to gain a heart. You get 20 from talking to someone for the day and 60 for a Loved gift (x8 I think for Birthday Loved gift, it basically gives you 2 full Hearts). I'm not sure if talking to Shopkeepers through their shop menu counts so for Marnie you might need to wait until she's walking around normally.
If you can get behind the counter you can give them a gift.
Still glad I know where they are at least. I gave up on them until I was stocking my chicken coop and noticed them in her room.
Marnie's easier because she's in the saloon every night. Marnie, Lewis, Shane, Pam, and Leah are all regulars there. And obviously Gus and Emily.
So is there a strategy to foraging other than looking high and low? Last item I need for the community center's fall foraging bundle is a common mushroom and I haven't ran into one yet.
