They lowered the cost of turning wood into coal as well.

Coal never seemed hard to get, it was weird that it required so much wood. I've never actually had to use the coal maker thingy.

If you wanted to mass-produce berries, then coal was a big issue. I could farm the mines, every day, and still not have enough for what I had planned. That doesn't include the coal you need to use for other tings that require ingots.

So any advice for planting trees? I'm nearly done clearing out the west area of my farm from trees and want to being a small orchard for fruit and non-fruit trees for syrup/resin.

EDIT: Also how much grass do barn animals such as cows eat a day?

Trees require the immediate space around them clear in order to grow (the 3x3 grid, with the seed in the middle). When they are fully grown, then you can put stuff around them.

Animals eat one hay per animal a day, if you do not let the animals out into an area where there is grass.

However, you can put the seeds only two spots apart, and they will share the same row, and still grow to maturity. It's a way to pack more trees into a smaller area, but it gets a lot harder to see things.

Also, the pinecones, maple seeds, and acorns that drop from trees count as a planted tree, so you can't plant another tree near those.

ConcernedApe is back from his break, and has a lot of awesome stuff in the works. Console/mac/linux ports, multiplayer, and tons of other things for patch 1.1.

Post-Launch Progress Update: Version 1.1 and more!

On a different note, I will likely never ever have RNG this good again. I was just gonna hop in and out real quick to see if I could grab an ore to finish a set of 5 bars, so no lucky day/bombs/food (aside from coffee/rain), started "late" in the day, etc:

    Spoiler: show

I'm excited about buildings being movable. I put my chicken coop in a horrible spot.

Also is my spouse supposed to suffer from bipolar disorder?

I married Abigail and I swear every other day she doesn't get out of bead and goes berserk if I talk to her.

    PS4, Xbox One & Wii U Q4 2016
    Hi everyone!

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that console ports were in the works, but I couldn’t give you any more details at the time.

So today, I’m pleased to officially announce that Stardew Valley is coming to the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Wii U!

With the help of Chucklefish and Sickhead Games, I’m expecting to have these versions ready in time for the winter holidays!

It’s very important to me that playing Stardew Valley with console controllers is intuitive and effortless. I’ll be the first to admit that the current, rudimentary controller support in the PC version is far from ideal, and it will need to be adjusted prior to the launch.

I’m also excited about the possibility of utilizing special console features like the Wii U’s second screen!

The Mac and Linux version of the game are still in the works, and should be ready very soon! Still working on the multiplayer and version 1.1 updates, too, and will keep you updated. Thanks for all of your patience and support!

    I love this guy's determination.

I really need to get back into this game soon. Last I remember I married the merchant's daughter and that was it.

The free 1.1 update is coming monday!
    https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/sta...73088529879040

    http://stardewvalley.net/

    Here’s where I’m at on version 1.1:

    Emily and Shane marriage candidates
    New farm buildings
A new upgrade option for your house
    Ability to move buildings
    New items and crops
    More spouse behaviors
    Improvements/Additions to mining and combat
    More bug fixes
    More secrets
More small, fun touches to the world
"When starting a new character in version 1.1, you’ll be able to choose from five different farm maps (including the original map). Each map is based on a different skill, and includes unique gameplay opportunities that correspond to that skill.

Riverlands (fishing) — Lots of water, and fishing is actually viable, unlike the other farm maps. It also looks really nice!

Forest (foraging) — Forage items spawn on the west edge of the map, as well as renewable stumps. There is also a unique type of weed that spawns on the farm.

Hill-top (mining) — Lots of cliffs. There is a mining area to the southwest where ores and unique geode-bearing stones will spawn.

Wilderness (combat) — Plenty of farming space, but monsters come out at night.

Everything else in the patch should seamlessly integrate into your existing save files, but to play the new maps you’ll have to start a new character."

Wow I forgot how slow the game feels when you have no upgrades/low stamina.
