Mmmm yes. Good devs. Mmmm yes.
Blowing 20k gold on the biggest coop upgrade which handles auto feeding and stuff. Going to sell my chickens and convert to ducks and see how the mayonnaise empire turns out. Doing this in the winter as I don't have any other farming activities going on other than turning some fruit into wine/jam. Guess I could get a barn also to help work towards the animal bundle stuff.
My farm is so overgrown in the lower part. Even with a steel axe it takes forever.
Bought it today. Checking everything out, taking it slow. Can anyone tell me the rules for planting seeds on the grid? Is it like Harvest Moon where you hoe 8 squares with an empty patch in the middle? And is there a way to un-hoe a spot of ground or remove seeds accidentally placed? In Harvest Moon it was accomplished by pounding the dirt with a hammer but the tools don't seem to do that.
Seeds are lost if you re-hoe the area as far as I know.
What do you need to build a trellis?
Going back to the coop discussion from earlier, the deluxe coop with the auto-feed system is pretty awesome. I go in and check on my chickens / ducks and collect the eggs and thats about it. Don't need to worry about putting hay down for them in the winter. Looks like barns work the same way so probably not the worst idea to invest in one of each so you can complete bundles and do some other stuff.
I need to do that. I've been avoiding animals for long enough. I'll clear out a section for em.
You guys have probably seen this but there's an online planner to help you map out how to use your farm area.

I feel like things are going so slow. I mean, I'm nearly at the end of one month, but I feel like at the current rate I'm going it'll be awhile before I have anything substantial. How far along were you guys by the end of the first month?
Almost nowhere.
Pretty much what Zetanio said. I had like two 3x5 plots and was selling potatos at the end of month 1 just trying to get my feet wet. The only game I've played even remotely similar to this is Farmville which is honestly a huge disservice to be comparing Stardew to that.
I think I started with potatoes too. It didn't help that there was no official wiki up for the first 2 days I played.
It was pure guesswork.
and all of it was wrong.
I had fun anyway. I married that Leah broad. She occasionally waters my plants that are all serviced by sprinklers, so that's good.
