It sounded like they were talking about a new reveal and were trying to be cryptic about it, but it seems i misunderstood. I tend to only read the official release, considering i try to support the company/artists when they make it easily accessible.

    Well...

    Spoiler: show
Long-term theory was that the invisible girl was the traitor between her not being around when the villains first attacked the students and generally not getting much screen time in general. I know some started thinking Aoyama when he started creeping Deku around the time he started interacting with the predecessors, but then we had hamster principal or someone basically say they could find no evidence of a traitor so it seemed like that story thread was dropped until now.

At this point, it seemed both non-imporant and completely random to just bring it back up, with the previous issue doing a cliffhanger red herring showing invisible girl with the last panel. AFO giving some random quirkless kid a joke power that also happened to get into USJ years later otherwise feels like a hell of a convenient outcome, both for AFO and what will likely be the heroes using Aoyama to lure AFO out.

The red herring probably hit the Japanese better than Americans

Im so confused about why he's speed running to the end of this story. Built this huge world with a million possibilities, then a year, he's like. fuck it. Lets just smash all the toys together at the same time, out of fucking nowhere.

Idk, it does feel like we're skipping a lot of possible character moments and shotgunning the end asap, even if the pace doesn't seem too breakneck for me.

Either way so far I'm enjoying this more than "Oops Ichigo got his sword broken twice by god then Chairzen won for him"

So, Bleach 2.0, then, lol. Big bad mastermind who was responsible for everything that ever happened to everyone, and he's nigh-untouchable.

Maybe it’s being covered in the Vigilante side series? Haven’t read it myself but…

Well, I think most of us would agree the encounter wish Shigaraki also felt "too soon" and further so with how he basically jacked everyone until the power of friendship rattled him.

Pragmatically, I guess we need to look at this from the very beginning and how it was generally meant to be a tale of how Deku becomes the #1. That tidbit alone suggests all these hurdles are overcome, but between then and now, we've obviously lacked various specifics.

I think the alternative to the present situation would've been Deku having individual training arcs for his unlocked powers with side stories for the more prominent 1A characters besides Bakugo and Todoroki. This would've taken forever in manga format, however, and part of me even feels like the thought of aging up the characters by either doing just that or doing a time skip is a bit taboo. This leads to needing some adults to step in, but I'd say there isn't much of an interesting roster there outside of Eraser and a now defunct All Might. I doubt anyone really gives a shit about characters like Cementos, but then you get ones like Midnight off-screened in what almost felt like an executive call to cut out an inappropriate character for international audiences. I'm sure we all like Bunnygirl cuz she's hot, but what if Uraraka or even Momo trained up to that level? It would've given us some familiar faces to work with while deepening their character growth (and ideally nipping the shounen problem of treating female characters as throwaways).

I know some of us were unhappy with the Stars and Stripes reveal/fight and how it basically felt like childish "I'm rubber, you're glue!" in execution and BS plot armor to preserve Shiggy for Deku. Going the extra mile to try and paint the LoV as victims of circumstance also feels a bit ham-fisted and too late. Like, I can't give a single fuck about Togo, but if she was originally written to be a part of 1A, built a relationship with Deku and the other classmates beforehand, and then maybe got turned around the time of the AM/AF1 fight, I would've felt more invested than the prevailing wank theory of invisible girl being the traitor or trying to make gag character Aoyama mean more by pushing the title onto him. So, while it's possible AF1 gets taken out here, we all know this personality imprinting or whatever he's done on Shiggy will just be amplified so he won't really die and we're just back to the "Rescue Shiggy!" vibes that were planted in the last little war. Yet, none of this really addresses the problem that the majority of the cast is outclassed at their current levels, so we're going to see asspulls one way or another.

idk maybe it was decided MHA Shippuuden would be better so that's why we are rushing, or maybe the author is more interested in the side stories these days, or possibly even a similar conflict Kubo had with the industry has come up. My money is kinda on the last.

I was torn between "He's gotten tired of making the series", or "He's ran out of ideas and is trying to tie things up before the Manga jumps the shark and popularity plummets" or "Industry is fucking him cause the manga isn't as popular as it used to be".

I mean they could just throw an absolute 180 here and in this battle the Heroes start to lose so decisively badly we learn one of Deku's inherited powers is some time-space shenanigans and he shoves the villains like 5 years into the future and the Manga continues to explore the heroes training for a fight they know will come later and fixing a crumbling society in the aftermath of the events happening now with the looming knowledge all the OP dudes will return someday, and that "How I became the greatest hero" moment is like, the days before the Villains return.

Cause like you said, otherwise we just got Heroes who are undoubtedly severely outclassed by the Villains without some asspulling.

    My Hero Academia

Kind of reminds me of Demon Slayer. Manga spoilers below…

    Spoiler: show
How after the Swordsmith Village arc, it was a sudden sprint out of nowhere to the end.

The author barely touched any of the other Hashira’s back stories versus what we got with Water Guy, Rengoku, Pretty Boy Ninja, and the Mist Hashira. The author gave virtually no explanation behind the demon slayer marks. And a ton of other things I can’t recall at the moment.

Seems like they’re now taking the time to flesh it out with side story chapters, as the anime counterpart progresses the story.

Not manga related but anyone hear anything about the US release of World Hero's Mission on DVD? Didn't get to see it in the theaters and I would really like to see it. Can anyone help me find it?
