Surprise! When I'm not countered every action it is a pretty manageable fight.

Used Rata's setup, but didn't find myself needing mental breakdown for Terra - she was hitting for 9.5k+ anyways. Would have probably gotten more mileage out of Armor BD for the Spellbladers/Jumpers than Mental BD for Tyro using Blizzaga.

Dropped a Greater Wind Orb for my trouble.

I got a greater orb of some kind. That's 10 times as good as a garland drop for me.

RNG is fucking me over with counters and AoEs. 30% my best run before it went counter crazy.

Eh I said screw it and didn't master this run. Was sick and tired of RNGesus fucking me with AoE.

Counter aoe was annoying, but Ult was pretty easy. Only S/L once.

Brought Cid as my DRG and goddamn Hyper Jump ramps up his damage big time.

Ultimate was pretty easy. First time I had to s/l after he clawed lenna to start then countered before I got protect and wall up. Almost had to s/l a second time when fenrir whiffed at the end and mitigation fell, left sazh at about 15%

I'm getting pretty owned by counterattacks. 0/4 so far, debating rethinking strategy or hoping for better rng.

edit: 1/8, only one counterattack when I won. not happy with my setup so not bothering posting, I think I should have ran SG as my rw instead of mighty guard. didn't bring full break either, just had freya with power breakdown and ice jump. whatever

1/2, but had to use advance for it... and even then I was only doing 4k a hit =/ my IX synergy is nonexistent

I 1/1'd this one, thought it was really easy. I didn't use much for synergy other than the accessories and the Butterfly Sword.



RW was SG.

If I were to change anything, I'd probably try bringing Blizzaga instead of Thundaja because it was only doing about 3k damage. I feel like Blizzaga would do better damage because of vulnerability. Also, not sure how much Shellga helped; I haven't actually looked at the attacks the Ults do in several events.

His attacks only did around 365 damage, except for the counter move which he used 6 times.

I played with different strats for this one..
tried a 4 dragoon party.. then a 3 dragoon lol...

but my mastery run ended up going with reta.
my setup was
Cloud - Reta / Lifesiphon - Ace Striker
Freya - Ice Jump / Wind Jump - Attunement II
Zidane - Tempo Flurry / Draw Fire - Knightly Charge
Sazh - Power Breakdown / Magic Breakdown - Dr Mogs Teachings (has Boon)
Aerith - Curaga / Protectga - Mako Might (has Planet Protector)
RW: SG

just gotta keep Freya jumping to keep the dragon grounded, which isn't so bad. much more generous than Rubicante cos he won't counter if you try to attack in that form anyways - it just misses.

I highly recommend Draw Fire if you have problems dealing with the damage from Claw / Scratch and this will basically make it a non-issue. Paired with Knightly Charge for more SB damage (i have Scoop Art). Tempo Flurry was for retaliate, which I realize i didn't actually didn't do very much of lol.

Sazh was spamming breakdowns after the initial Boon, and Aerith spamming Cures. Freya's SB were used to heal. Rei's Wind is decent. I also gave her a support medica.

You could probably replace Reta and Tempo Flurry for other skills based on what character you use. I might have gone with Steal Power instead.

Do this and you can probably control the fight pretty well. Just pray for less counter gales.

I went roughly with this setup, but took several tries because I was having issues getting mitigation up.

Was a non factor in both my attempts. I did it both ways. Jump first, then wall. Or do wall and then jump. Didn't make much of a difference.

Mitigation wasn't an issue for me. The fight was just too damn drawn out. So much counter.
