Don't forget Slow+Blind.
Don't forget Slow+Blind.
Hes got Tempo Flurry and Blindga set.
I know I had native wall and medica, but I really cannot stress how important shell+magic BD are for this fight. Blind neuters the physical side entirely, and if you have good damage and proc chance on doublecasting the ice or fire gigas down, those 4-6 charges can be split between the last 2 gigas and make for a much more manageable fight.
Slipping a poison in there can help damage weak teams deal with thunder once they exhaust hones on fire/ice gigas. I set blind and poison up on thunder ASAP, and then focused on slowing the other 2 while taking them down one at a time.
I would also imagine that using a Mako Might charge on an AoE slow (Locke, Rinoa, etc) to start the fight would be worth the tradeoff from the usual Boon/SG/SSII suspects.
anyway i'm about to have stamina for ++ so can't do ultimate for like 5h
Ayn, what team are you using? There's a few variations to do Emperor +++.
I did it without Bio, but it took forever to kill Thunder
Thunder Gigas has more HP compared to the other two, that's usually why it takes longer other than not bringing Bio spells. I didn't but I burned him down with Blaze Rush and Lupine Barrage spam. Had to reset at the beginning a few times because they liked to aim for Vanille and kill her before I could heal.
Emperor was a fucking dick for me, used Star fall 4 times striaght then spammed slow
So i'm just getting assraped. I tried dropping wall rw for hotf and the damage is way too high
Yeah bloody hell, with Shell up, Thunder Gigas will randomly electrocute someone for 3k.
1h Ish before I can try ultimate
not sure how much it would help, but for my strat I ran with shellga on my whm and garnets divine guardian rw for res+, along with it having haste and regen. I only brought magic break with me on squall (I have HH though), and while I probably went overboard magic damage wasn't too bad for me. since the plan was to kill fire and ice asap and have thunder blinded, i was hoping to not take too much physical damage along the way, and at least for me it worked (the haste from rw helped as well to get the first two gigas down quick)
physical damage will hurt pretty bad though when it happens, but I had a protect bracer on squall so he put it up whenever he had his sb gauge ready.
Well this is my current setup.
Lenna Curaja/Prot (may try again switching to shell) Ace Striker RM
Cloud Lifesiphon/Bio Strike +Healing RM
Rinoa Firaja/Blizzaja BotE RM
Sazh Magic Breakdown/Full Break Dr. Mog RM
Firion Dark Buster/Tempo Flurry PotRW RM
My best attempts have been with wall/shellga up, but if just one of them drops, Thunder rapes me with the single shot electrocutes for 3k+
Silly question, are you using the thunder resist accessories which I assume will help?
I know you're running lifesiphon on cloud because you have fusion sword, but I'd give him another spellblade instead to wipe out one of the first two gigas faster. i didn't bother using my fenrir SB until only the last gigas was left to burst him down faster
in fact, you could possibly run with both fire and ice spellblades, and use just FO and the burst commands on thunder gigas
Use any thunder/fire/ice resist you have. I had Mog with Heroic Scarf (ice resist) and Flame Cloak (fire), Vanille with Necrophobe Ward (fire/thunder), Coral Ring on Lightning and Thunder Ring on Bartz. Leon didn't have one but I gave him his armor so he had pretty high defenses anyway.
"1/1"... which is to say, 2/2, which is to say, fucking slow wouldn't proc. And that's talking about the Emperor =/ not even ultimate.
I brought breakdowns for that reason. I only ever used them on Thunder because the other two were easier to kill.
Another thing you can try is stacking Magic Shield with Shell and Wall. You'll want to bring double cast if you have it and bring blizz/bio strike. With Ace Striker you won't need LS compared to the vulnerable damage hits.
Had to S/L once but beat it fairly easily
Spoiler: show
I forgot to slow the Ice Gigas but mastered it anyway LOL
Life would've probably been easier if I took Blindga instead of Magic Breakdown and didn't rely on Kefka's Havoc Wing for it. But I wanted to play with different shiny toys for a change so I jumped at the oppurtunity of the SB being useful.
Also never actually needed to use the Hymn RW. Brought it for insurance.
I think the set-up I'm planning to take in is:
Zack - Lifesiphon / Dark Buster (Air Strike)
Jecht - Tempo Flurry / Dismissal (Jecht Rush)
Lightning - Blizzaga Strike / Lifesiphon (Blaze Rush)
Red - Full Break / Magic Breakdown (Lunatic High)
Aerith - Shellga / Curaja (Planet Protector)
RW: SG/SS2
Hope that having Dismissal plus 2 forms of 100% Dismissal SB's should be enough to neuter damage
