Looking to buy a new BBQ

Ok guys, i'm not really knowledgeable about BBQ, but looking for a good one forthe GF and I

Budget is around 200-250$, and I found this one at home Depot

    https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.2...000136464.html

40k BTU 218$ reviews seems nice so i went on the manufacturer website

    http://www.broilmatebbq.com/grill.ph...6&model=165154

Looks pretty good for me, but reviews can sometimes be 'cheated' so I wanna know if anyone on BG has this BBQ and how well it does

    Thanks!

These prices on here are ridiculous, but I guess that's lolCanada.

I've got this one with an enameled cast iron grate. I had bought it a few years ago at a Home Depot near me for about $500 US.

I've always liked my Broilkings. The ones made in Canada are usually thicker in terms of material. A bit more expensive but worth it in the long run IMO.

I'm more partial to smokers, but for grills I prefer ceramic grates

Do you know how to bbq? If you don't, buy a cheap ass one. Gas if you don't want to wait, coal if you want that extra smoke.

I just bought this one which I'm pretty happy with. Not sure if the infrared thing is just a gimmick, but the price was right and the ceramic grates are much easier to clean than our last grill. It has less BTU's n junk but it makes nice and juicy burgers and steaks pretty quickly. Maybe the infrared is supposed to make up for the low BTU's, who knows. I know probably as much about grills as you lol.

The other one you chose also looks pretty good, I like amazon for reviews.. but it appears that particular grill isn't reviewed yet.. I don't trust reviews on manu's websites either lol.

Wife and I bought a $40 charcoal grill. Used the hell out of it for burger, steak, pork, chicken, and veggies. Love the taste of charcoal cooked food. You really do not need anything special. I personally do not like the taste from gas grills.

I don't get a "taste" from propane grills. Charcoal produces a taste when you cook with it. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though, as long as you don't burn the shit out of something.

"Taste the meat, not the heat." As stupid as this King of the Hill line is, it's true. Propane is odorless and tasteless. It has an additive, like any other gas, to give it a smell, but it does not transfer to food unless the air intake on the grill is fucked (or there is something blocking it). It may have been the combustion of the gas itself that was creating the issue; the intake could have been dirty giving the meat a dirty taste.

This will also happen if you don't clean out the grill and it flares from the built up crud under the burners. This will make the food taste bitter as well.

For me, maybe I taste it because those that have gas grills do not clean them properly and what not.

Also, I love mesquite flavor. Just personal preference.

Yeah, wood coal is great and it's faster than charcoal briquettes. Usually more expensive too, though.

I'm guilty of not cleaning my grill as often as I should. It's just that I use it several times a week, including through winter, so I'd have to clean it more often than most.

Almost any grill will work once you learn to use it and don't suck at grilling things. Specifically, don't go buy some superduperawesome grill because of big BTU numbers.

I'm partial to my weber Q320. I got a good deal on it (otherwise they are a little pricy), but it heats quickly, has plenty of space, and gets plenty hot enough. I grill at least weekly, year round, and only fill the propane a couple times a year. The biggest drawback on that model for me is you can't easily have a "hot" and "cool" zone.

For what it's worth, I own a charcoal as well, and I haven't used it in years due to the ease of using gas.

Also, BBQ is pulled pork (or maybe beef, if you are west of me). Grilling is when you use a grill. Take that "bbq = grill" shit back to canada!

Buy a cast iron plate and learn to sear meat in the kitchen. Then go from there.

Grilling with a cast iron is also pretty top tier. I love my cast iron inside but I dislike filling my entire apartment with smoke. Hence why I use my sous vide so much.

Fucking this. Smoke alarms here are sensitive as fuck, so frying chicken or searing can be a pain in the ass.

If you don't have a cast iron plate seasoned. No point in getting a bbq. Unless you want to cook hotdogs.
