If you like hiking, go to Sokcho (town) on the east coast. They have a National Park called Seoraksan. Always worth the trip to go there. Always beautiful and cheap.

(Seoul) If you like the architecture, get a pass to see the palaces as there is quite a few of them to visit and will be cheaper. They can be bought outside any palace.

Visit Bongeunsa Temple, another gorgeous temple to see.

Myeongdong Shopping Street has good stores if you like shopping and there are animal caffees around there (Cats & Dogs)

Hike around the Namsan Park (and don't forget to see the N Seoul Tower, try to go on a day where its less pollution)

Little bit north/east of Namsan Park, there is a little village area called Namsangol Hanok Village. Quick visit.

Again if like nature/hiking/walking, walk the length of the Cheonggyecheon Stream. It's about 11 km long and runs through a lot of Seoul.

What city will you mostly be staying in? I can't help out that much with ideas around Seoul, but I know Gyeongsangdo (Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongju).

Gyeongju is absolutely worth taking the train to even if you are staying somewhere up north. It was the capital during the Shilla Dynasty, and has a ton of great historical sites to check out. The "downtown" area is built around old monuments and tombs, with Anapji (palace) and a museum on the eastern side. Lots of great food and gorgeous scenery around. You can also take a bus or taxi out to Bulguksa, which is probably the most famous temple in Korea. I always really enjoy Gyeongju, especially in the spring. Also, make sure you eat some Gyeongju Bbang before you leave.

Ulsan is a probably a city you can skip if you aren't staying nearby. Ulsan Grand Park is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon though. I used to live in Ulsan though, so I'm a bit nostalgic for it.

Busan is the second largest city in Korea, and the place I have called home for the past three years. Whatever you like to do, you can find it in Busan. Haeundae and Gwangali are the beach areas, and they are very active during the spring. Haeundae in particular is very friendly to foreigners, with more English menus and English speakers at restaurants, etc. There is an aquarium right on the beach in Haeundae as well. Gwangali is more of where the locals go to be near the beach, and it is also home to the biggest fish market in the city. Having some drinks and eating fresh raw fish(회) right on the beach is glorious.

Seomyeon(서면) and Nampodong(남포동) are shopping areas that are fairly close to each other on the subway. Seomyeon is the more modern, built up area. Nampodong is the more traditional place, with lots of street food vendors, and the international market. Tons of places to eat in both areas, but Nampodong has some of the best Jjukkumi restaurants I've ever been to.

Gamcheon Munhwa Maeul(감천문화마을) is a little artsy village in the western hills of Busan. There is a great view from up there, as well as lots of small museums, and street art to take in, with plenty of cafes when you feel like taking a rest. It's a little out of the way, but it's a fun place to visit.

If you want more outdoorsy stuff, Beomeosa(범어사) is a decent sized temple in the northern part of Busan. There are hiking paths that lead up to it, and lots of areas to explore around the temple as well. As with most temples, the food you find nearby will be very traditional. Food is one of the best things about Korea, and experiencing traditional food is a huge part of that.

That's enough for now, but if you have any specific questions about anything Korean, feel free to ask here or send me a PM.
