That's what I was afraid of. I guess I could level my water team on story/events and see how they turn out. Silva is supposedly pretty solid in early game, and Katarina/Vane make a decent defensive wall.
On the bright side, I finally finished uncapping my 4th 5*, so that does it for my Fire/Light mains who needed that. Farming up 380k rupies was kinda awful.
As Noobta mentioned, same-element debuffs are very tough to land. Other people are probably sticking a debuff for status resistance on him first as well, which makes everything after land more easily.
As for your overall team, you can try to go with a mixed team, and only fight him when a MLB Grande is available (preferably during strike time). Silva and you will be water, and then you just fill in the other slots with your best of each element.
Wow, Defense Order is a fucking piss poor joke. Did your party die at any point in the battle? Well, fuck you, because you can't do anything else for the rest of the event, from what I can tell.
Did you try to join a bunch of battles, only to be able to salute? Go check your pending raid section for all those battles you won! Just kidding, you got jack shit...hahaha!
Raid bosses that do 3-5K a hit? Better hope you didn't want to do anything because you sure as hell aren't going to anymore in this event.
Unless I'm really missing something, and there is no way to join if you get knocked out at any point, this is the worst game design I have ever seen.
Yeah I could tell it would be garbage from the start when I saw that you had roll against 10k+ other people. Literally the only reason to do it is to get 1.5k shields a week to buy out the measly 5 pots and even that will be a struggle when half the groups can't even clear it.

The shared chest items aren't even that good either, though maybe the element summons are okay when maxed MLB, but who would want to for this event? I literally can't fathom how this got green-lit; it's just abysmal unless you're one of those rank 170 people. Ya, they actually pay the bills, but still, the event could have been designed so that everyone felt rewarded for playing.
I had wondered why there weren't any articles or guides written up for it, but I know now to never think about it again. I have 270 AP pots I haven't even used yet.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Devs are tailoring new content towards extreme high level players. If you started around the same time I did, we're really not the target audience for DO. They actually mentioned this in an interview recently. There aren't really any plans for new, low level content (I'd say "mid-level" but that seems to imply being able to MVP magnas which I'm still nowhere near being able to do at Rank 71).
Well, in all honesty, there's sub Magna content, and then there's Magna + content, but the power difference needed to properly participate in Magna + content is a very long grind, and that's currently where a lot of the good rewards come from, even when events come around. The first bit of content that felt like it was properly reward/effort was the first Tales repeat event, where you could grind out an MLB from the shop. Maniac was for that Magna + crowd and even if you couldn't complete it, you could still get a fully MLB'd weapon if you really focused on it and didn't get any flips.
They really need to scale events so that only the highest tier content needs those thirty people because until you get to Magna +, you really just feel like a leach, waiting for high levels to feed off of your hosting lures. Might be missing a dynamic if it's supposed to rely on guild help to do things, because then the model makes more sense, but only if you need the same content or are already maxed out and just want to help out.
There are stopgaps in between. They're just not heavily advertised because there aren't all that many English forums/resources for this game.
For example, if you haven't gotten 40 magna flip chests of the SSR weapon you need to fill out a full Magna grid, you can use SR Magna weapons in the meantime. They're easy to MLB and skill up to level 10, and the damage combined with a MLB magna summon is no joke. You can then replace them at your leisure with real SSR Magna weapons.
Bahamut SR weapons are also pretty easy to get overall. The hard part is getting a Bahamut Horn. Camp tweetdeck enough and they'll drop eventually (and it's a fun fight, anyways. No real danger since people heavily debuff the boss). There's also supposedly a free horn at level 80 for starting your own proto-bahamut.
Finally, debuffs seem to be king. I just swapped my MC to Water element (as Sidewinder, because Gun is my only water weapon atm) and went from barely being able to scratch Colossus Omega with my Fire team to being able to MVP him at ~7million damage with the exact same team because Miserable Mist and Arrow Rain 3 were finally able to land. It's kinda mind-blowing.
Been debating about leveling my SR weapons up from skill level three, since it does take so long to get an SSR pool going, and that weapon stash is almost full again. I have enough to buy a Tiamat Gun, so that would put me at three, with an MLB Fist. Sidewinder is almost finished, so I'll have my solo DF completed as well. Maybe at that point the power difference will overcome Jeanne + Narmaya Grande combo I've been running.
The longer I go, the more I feel I should put aside the idea of saving pendants for a light/dark team and just blitzing a Wind Team as I'll probably get their faster if I can MVP my own content faster. I almost have Christina, so I can get to farming the rare weapons for a Siete, and maybe by the time GW comes around next time, I'll have everything together or close to it.
It's definitely worth it. And tbh the skill fodder required to level them to 8-10 isn't really that bad, either. SR requirements only go up 4 points per level. Since I have an SR Baha dagger, an S10 SSR magna weapon, and 2 MLB Unknown weapons, I figured I'd need 6 MLB SR Magna weapons at the absolute maximum. After locking those down, the rest of the SR magnas that rained from the sky became skill fodder for their brethren.
Unrelated, according to a Japanese blog linked on Reddit (which I cannot actually read, mind you), the Tales 2 Light Staff has a secret passive that allows it to count as a Harp for the purposes of Superstar skill checks. This supposedly allows Sage/Bishop/Hermit to EX Sky Realm Song for a 65% DA buff.
Yeah any skilled up SRs can just be used as SSR fodder eventually. Not worth that much point wise but can save you 1 SSR. For example to level a baha weapon from 1>2 you'd need 40 points. 1 SSR is worth 40 points and a SR is worth 4. A Sk10 SR would be worth 40
Been road-tripping so havent had really any time to play. Squeezed in a little time tonight...

I really don't understand how your statements about debuffs make that even possible. I had Tiamat debuffed with Mist + Arrow two and it still one-shots a fire team, and I know what Collosus can do since I join raids for him on my alt, so he should still be wiping your team on overdrive attacks. Mist + Arrow can't be enough to survive, based on what I've seen even in fully debuffed raids.
@ Stah: How the fuck do you get seven drops as MVP? I've only ever seen four, without being in second place....
Colo takes a long time to hit overdrive so if you go into OD with empty ougi charges and some slows you can easily survive long enough to secure MVP. OD ougi also only kills one person so if you have useful people in backrow it would be a while before you wipe.
7 drops would be 4 gold chests(normal with luck or some TH) + 1 flip + 2 red chests. I've had plenty of double SSR runs but never any when it's 2 useful weapons...One day I'll get a tia that drops 3 guns
Hardcore drops, very nice!
Mist+Arrow Rain 3 is 50% Attack Down which brings his normal attacks down from ~3k to ~1.5k which is significantly more manageable for me. My Fire main line is 5* Magisa (Veil, and Morax mode gives her 2x Def at the cost of constant DoT), 5* Yuel (6 turn 1500 HP team heal), and 5* Teena (another 6 turn 1500 HP team heal which I rotate every 3 turns with Yuel). I also split my Summon pool into 3 Attack summons and 3 Defense summons. Colossus Omega main for Aura (and normally Def down but he won't land it on Fire element bosses), Prometheus for Fire Atk+, and Anat for normal Atk+ make up the Attack summons. Ruby Carbuncle, 0* Nezha, and support 5* Athena (I reset the pool until I get one) make up the Defensive summons. All 3 have some kind of damage resist/cut that applies to Fire in their actives.
I pop the Attack summons whenever their timers are up and I don't need to pop a Defense summon that turn. I only pop a Defense summon when Colossus' charge bar is full to help mitigate his ougi damage. The only time I don't have one up is his 2nd Ougi of the match since Athena's down and the other summons haven't charged yet. This will hopefully be mitigated when I get a Water-element sword/dagger so I can bring DF instead of Sidewinder.
It's worth noting that nothing I do can mitigate Dimensional Cleave right now. But that's a non-issue if all I want is MVP since he won't use it above 50% HP (or Overdrive? He doesn't usually hit Overdrive till about 50% so I haven't been able to tell the difference). Worst case, when I'm right about to die, I can deactivate Magisa's Morax mode for a guaranteed 1.2M nuke.
Edit: It just occurred to me that there's an SR Water dagger in the Casino. Fuck yeah, Dark Fencer get.
Ah, so basically, you have a team and damage to take on Omegas; the debuffs aren't really the issue then but I know they help.
Also, I think I've asked it before, but is anyone else getting 30s to 1 minute delays on notifications from Tweetdeck. Impossible to join any raids and I can't find anything about it online or how to improve the problem.
I mean, without the debuffs even that team was getting absolutely destroyed by the first ougi. My weapon pool is nothing special, either (SSRMagna10, SRBaha1, Unknown7, Unknown6, SRMagna8, SRMagna8, SRMagna8, SRMagna5, Lv100 Laevateinn stat stick, and my Water Dagger main). Switching my MC to water element so debuffs would stick was the game changer for me even though it caused my MC damage to nosedive and cost me a spot in my pool I was using for my my Lv100 GW Gun stat stick.
Finally managed to clear a baha HL off twitter. Helps that like 6 of the people in the run were from IRC and usually set up organized runs every night.
