Goins and Barney both had some nasty pitches. That curveball from Goins was gross. Schultz also deserves a lot of praise for staying in after he aggravated his hip injury.

If the improper batter reaches base, the proper batter is called out and the next batter in order is up. So in this case Lucroy was called out, which ended the inning, and then Braun led off the second inning.

If they'd realized before his plate appearance was over, Lucroy would have come to bat and assumed Braun's pitch count.

solution: put batter with disciplined batting eye up to bat instead of hacker, remove to provide favorable count for correct batter
