Pretty much how I feel. The episode in a vacuum wasn’t bad, but the fact it’s the penultimate of the main show is just a huge buzzkill.

Which leads me to believe they’re 100% intent on having Vought Rising give us the true ending to The Boys the way Better Call Saul did for Breaking Bad.

Besides the pacing I will say the show feels “smaller” somehow this season too. There’s no real sense of the world at large.

Every scene just transitions into another with the main cast in a confined area with no sense of time, distance, or location.

It’s like the season was filmed on a shoe string budget between 4 set pieces. And if you told me 3 of those were really just the same location with the props rearranged I’d believe you.

Like I’m positive the abandoned school, abandoned lab (Fort Harmony), and the abandoned warehouse are all the same set. The concentration camp and Oh Father’s filming set are probably the same spot too lol.

This season is fucking ass. We're now back at episode 1 with a super duper weapon being Kimiko instead of Soldier Boy with radiation blast to kill Homelander. Hindsight is 20/20 but this V1 shit should've been the whole arc last season. idk thank god we have 1 episode left so it can end because I don't feel like my time is being respected. Then HL betrays Soldier Boy? like. what. Sister Sage has no grand schemes?? Oh, I guess I also forgot about the stupid fucking virus. I lost track of whichever dumb McGuffin we were on. Half of season 4 and this season could've been scrapped and we'd have one good season. Firecracker's 30min deep dive has been the best thing so far

Right? Was literally the least shocking thing to happen in this show and I'm surprised it didnt happen sooner

But Idk, I am still enjoying it, and I'm lucky to not be following anything about this show online and I'm not even discussing it with anyone outside of this forum, so idk maybe thats part of it.

Think right now the only thing I'm worried about is I'm not sure how they're going to really... finish this up in one more episode? Like I really don't see how one more hour closes this out in a satisfying way... maybe the last episode will be 2hours or something idk.

Better not lock a satisfying ending behind Vought Rising or whatever the fuck that is cause I'll be extremely upset, I dont want a cinematic universe I just want a satisfying show.

Jesus christ Sage really did get bamboozled by love, but I guess I could have seen that coming if I did my mandatory 2 season spin-off Homework to get her backstory. >:{

it's sadly only an hour and 5 minutes. don't foresee a GoT level collapse but i have a hard time imagining a really satisfying finale in a normal episode's length. think the legacy of the show is gonna be damn good 1-3 seasons before ending with an uneven 4 & 5. but we'll see.

Im also worried about how they are going to wrap things up in a single episode, but the only complaint ive heard from people at work and stuff is that they missed some stuff because they never watched Gen V.

Just straight alive again. I think it was spun more like her blood control abilities were able to repair the damaged tissue and force their blood to pump again, but it drained her and caused others around her to get hurt and start bleeding. Starlights whole you don't know how to control your powers seemed to be pretty dull of an excuse given how season 2 of Gen V ended, then tack on another year~ of off screen time to that. She should be plenty capable at this point.

At this point, given the time left, there's only one ending I think I'll be satisfied with:

Homelander wins, everyone else dies, they all just get merc'd in a man baby rage. Given how similar some aspects of the show are mirroring our current political climate, it'd be on the mark. I just can't imagine any other satisfying end. What, Kimiko is suddenly going to tit beam blast Homelander as revenge for Frenchie? Soldier Boy gets sprung and does it? Sage comes up with some mcguffin? Marie comes in from no where with the steel chair? Ryan been juicing off screen and comes in for round 2? They pop the virus anyways cause they have no other options and surprise, it works, v1 did fuck all for Homelander's immunity? Just nothing at all is going to feel earned. So screw it, he wins. Hughie was right, they lost, it's just that no one else saw or accepted it.

Homelander is depowered and thrown into jail. It’s secretly revealed Frederick Vought is still alive as the original V1 supe and has been working with Stan Edgar all along. Butcher and the gang are enjoying their victory meal at the Juicy Rack completely unaware.

The post credit scene is a mysterious figure approaching Homelander in jail telling him “I still need you.” Homelander’s eyes start to glow red and it immediately cuts to black.

I binged GenV between this episode and the last, and I felt like it wasn't really worth the time commitment for something that could have been a single season and better paced.

Seen some interviews published with Kripke over the past couple of days that give away some of the finale it sounds like. Big spoilers I guess, so much for my guess. :X

-Marie and Gen V characters will be featured in finale but their story doesn't really conclude because the plan was to have a 3rd season.

"Their story was not over just because Homelander's dead. There was a whole other interesting space that they occupy as young adults in this world. We're working hard to figure out a way to continue their stories."

"When Annie says to Marie, 'What good's all that power if you can't control it?' And when Marie says, 'Reports of my awesomeness have been greatly exaggerated,' those are all hints of what we were planning to do for our season 3."

-Soldier Boy is done and won't come off ice for the finale, he's outta the picture (queue Soldier Boy will return in Vought Rising and maybe we'll give you an ending to all this).

"Knowing that that was going to be Jensen's last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference. Honestly, Slem wrote, and we shot that it was a Ford. It was, 'Working on the old Ford.' The danger of having [director] Phil Sgriccia and I, sitting next to each other in editing, which we would do, was that we were watching it and Phil was like, 'Should it be 'Impala'?' And I was like, 'Yeah, it probably should be 'Impala." And so, Jensen looped in 'Impala' just to do one last nod."

may change my tone after the finale but feel the internet hate machine is in overdrive as per usual. things are either the best ever without flaw or irredeemable trash, all nuance is lost.

this season is uneven, the pacing is a disaster, but it's had a lot of damn fine moments and ain't remotely close to the catastrophe that was Game of Thrones Season 8. if seasons 1-3 were like A's or A-'s this is around a C+ or B-.

I have seen so many people compare this to Got and Stranger things ending, its ridiculous. And Stranger things was just soft, still wasn't anywhere close to the disaster that GoT was
