If this is true then it really is on a level with GoT. Just entire arcs wasted cause the show runners can't balance a story.

So, as a person who has not watched Gen V, I’d find it a bit of a bummer if someone I didn’t know was the one to defeat Homelander. Is that my fault for not bothering to watch it? Yes. Should I have to watch a spin-off show to have a satisfying journey on the main series? No. That being said, I don’t think there is literally anything The Boys could do to put it anywhere close to GoT disaster levels.
If they wanted to make it a GOT level disaster they could have just done the ending to the comics
Gen V season 1/2 is better than the last 2, maybe 3 seasons of the boys

I personally am just waiting for the book ending to be an even bigger clusterfuck than the show, just to see what the book snobs say then.
The end of GoT wasn't great but people act like every episode of seasons 6-8 shot both their parents in the back of the head. If you didn't like it, blame GRRM for not even having Winds of Winter finished by then, never mind the actual final book. He could have course-corrected the show any time he wanted to.
Spoiler: show
D&D fucked that shit up 130%. The other 100% was the studio for letting them fuck it up. The ending of the show could have been fine if they took their time with it. But as said, they saw that Star Wars credit and rushed it. Glad they lost that job. Fuck them.
The episode where Sansa and Arya finally gank Little Finger was also one of the best episodes of the whole show to me.
We all loved when Drogon came and fucked up the lannister army too.
S7 and 8 dropped the ball for sure, but it was mostly good with some epic fuck ups that soured us on it as a whole. "Dany kind of forgot about the iron fleet" is absolutely the worst moment Ive ever seen on TV, even if I enjoyed the episode up until that moment.
On the same front, being on dragon back on water and getting caught unawares by a fleet is just.....
disagree on mostly good with bad moments, i thought it was mostly bad with some horrific moments and a handful of good ones (production values, Ramin Djawadi's score, the actors doing the best they could with the dialogue they got, those all hit). the show's quality had been trending downwards from 5 onwards, 6 fought against the decline with a couple terrific moments, but then 7 was bad, and 8 was very bad.
100%. last bit of authentic character development we'd see from the show.
This pretty much sums up the problems with this season I think
Can we all agree that tomorrow being the last time we get new Homelander memes/gifs is a horrible thing
Man, they are jamming the episode full of fucking commercials lol freaking Amazon
farewell Boys
finale did enough to not fuck it irredeemably but didn't change much, still an uneven C+/B- season. the Amazon exec who refused to give Kripke the 13 episodes he wanted has much to answer for this season really could've used those extra 5 eps. it hit all the big moments and hit them fairly well but really needed time and space to set them up and let them breathe. went from not enough plot to too much. least a lot of the character endings were basically perfect.
