Schitt's Creek, as far as I know everyone loved that one.

    Star Trek: TNG.

Parks and Rec finale was spectacular, no notes. As mentioned, TNG, Breaking Bad, The Good Place, Mr Robot all had great finales

If we pretend season 9 never existed, Scrubs ended very well at season 8

Avatar The Last Airbender can be on there as well

Some more.... Babylon 5, Frasier, Mad Men

    Regarding Gen V characters:

    Spoiler: show
Its obvious the main show runners didn’t even watch the spin-off. Kripke hand waving Marie in saying she wasn’t ready when the entire Gen V S2 was a training montage for her power was ridiculous lol.

She can heal dire conditions of the human physiology. She can control human bodies as if they were puppets. She can revive the dead. And she basically one-shotted a V1 supe. A V1 supe that by his own admission was using Marie as a backup plan to take out Homelander.

But according to Starlight she wasn’t ready for the final boss despite being born from the same program as him, and trained specifically to cancel him out.

    Spoiler: show
Now I’m not saying that she should’ve been the Arya to slay the Night King. That honor had to be one of The Boys to do it and ultimately it was very satisfying for Butcher to be the one.

Still, that plot thread remains ridiculous and they couldn’t even give you a “stay back you’re the last line of defense” type send off for her character.

It all just makes you realize there was zero point to Gen V to begin with. Which I guess is kinda anti-marvel, but shooting yourself in the face with a shotgun to prove a point.

I've been saying it for the past 20 years, but many series would benefit from wrapping their whole story within 3 seasons.

Also, I feel like watching Gen V was just a waste of my time.

And that sucks because I’d much rather continue to watch Marie’s story than Kripke trying to justify Soldier Boy and Stormfront to me.

    Marie had no story left.
    Spoiler: show
She was already basically a god at the end of season 2, which makes it all the funnier how she was completely side-lined after her introduction into The Boys.

With how the season went, I'd have been more worried 5 more eps would have dragged things longer than it should with how things were written.

    Spoiler: show
As others have mentioned, the whole V1 subplot could have been axed and they just dealt with Homelander using bruteforce methods or the virus. That'd have saved us what, two episodes to explore some other subject?

I liked the first season alright if considering it as its own thing. Second season was too laser focused on Marie for my taste and went on longer than it should.

    On the Gen V note
    Spoiler: show
I forget, was it ever mentioned anywhere else that Homelander was 'special' like Marie was, or was that just a Gen V plot-device? Besides the Homelander backstory in The Boys of him basically being tortured as a kid to study his powers.

    Spoiler: show
The Odessa program in general I don’t think is ever mentioned in The Boys.

So yeah that’s a specific Gen V plot. Whereas the main show just always kinda told you Homelander was unique.

    Comic/finale double spoiler

    Spoiler: show
For how bad the comic ended, they did it right by having Hughie/Butcher's story end in the same way. That was the one part that they should have left in and they did

    100%

    Spoiler: show
it's the perfect ending for Butcher, especially in the show where he had to deal with the failure of saving Becca / lose any chance of a life with her. but it needed some space to breathe, Butcher going from drinking a beer and saying hey we can save Annie and Kimiko to full genocide in about 6 minutes was, while in character, deeply rushed. Homelander should've died in the penultimate episode, with the final dealing with Butcher's last spiral / deathwish after losing his one purpose in life.

also i'm 100% with Xno that a Marie-arc should've taken basically all the Vought Rising setup time, and been integral to the show's ending. she was perfectly set up to be the one to strip Homelander's blood of his V, two seasons setting up that ability, and instead went with a rushed Kimiko=Soldier Boy supercharger that was mostly a replay of Season 3's ending.

know Boys-only fans ain't familiar with her but could've used an ep or two to introduce her as the last hope, rescue her from some trouble, + have her involved in the final brawl with Homelander instead of/along with Kimiko, while still giving Butcher the final kill and Ryan the main assist in preventing Homelander from fleeing.

Very pleasantly surprised they wrapped it up so well.

Just went back and read the last 10 chapters of the comics to compare, and goddamn the show is just so much better lol

as someone who has only seen this show, knows nothing of the comic or other shows, and has not enjoyed most of this season, my opinion is this finale fucking ruled and was absolutely worth the buildup

    Spoiler: show
seeing homelander and the deep eat shit in spectacular crybaby fashion, perfect. homelander trying to fly after his powers got stripped, peak comedy. and the ending giving closure of some sort for all of the characters was well done, except i wanted to see the inside of the topless steakhouse
