The reason why NC is really getting shit on is because the state legislation passed a bill in response to the bill passed in Charlotte that essentially told them to go fuck themselves, the state rule's go.

The state's General Assembly wasn't due to meet until late April, but it scheduled a special session — for the first time in 35 years, member station WUNC reports — on Wednesday to respond to the Charlotte measure before it went into effect.

As far as the suing thing it doesn't say you can't sue for discrimination. Looks like it's just amending it to say you can't "bring any civil action based upon the public policy expressed herein(the article)."

Millions already lost. I think something around 2000 jobs have been put on hold in NC so far. :/

I'm talking about the revenue lost due to business backlash to this. The companies canceling events or expansions in the area, the hotel room and restaurants that are no longer booked, the influx of outside money coming in, gone. The invisible hand of the free market is giving the homophobes something to chew on, unfortunately there's a lot of collateral damage but hopefully their voices will be heard once lawmakers have no choice but to admit the law was a catastrophe.

Yeah, I really wish we would get rid of the parties and just have people run on their own merits and beliefs and let people decide on their own. I know it will never happen but the whole cut taxes and smaller government that people keep falling for is tiresome.

Because somewhere around 90-94% of votes will only ever vote for the label next to the person. Hence why elections for the most part are only about independents.

Utah alcohol bosses have filed a complaint and will consider revoking the liquor license of a movie theater it says violated a state obscenity law by serving drinks while screening "Deadpool," which features simulated sex scenes.

The theater said the law is unconstitutional and has threatened to challenge it in court if the complaint isn't dropped.

The Utah DABC is the worst, but what can you expect when it's full of mormons who have never had a drink in their lives. This reminds me of when the state had to be taken to court over its laws against advertising of any type of liquor. Liquor being anything over 3.2% by volume, so pretty much everything was banned except beer.

God, I can't wait to finish my degree and get out of this state.
