You can. I've observed though that monitors improve technologically/get cheaper over time. It might be wise to sit on the whole idea until you can get both. Just thinking out loud.

I'd probably wait to get into 4k monitors. There is only one >60hz monitor and it's $5000. I thought I read that the 1070 was getting max of 70-90 FPS on AAA-titles on ultra settings, is that correct? *For 1440p 144hz monitors. Have you checked /r/monitors?
Build isn't going well.
I don't know how to install the motherboard.
Got the thermal paste and cooling fan installed (I think)
but I only have 2 mobo standoffs?
Please help.
Standoffs, if not part of the case, always come with the case. Your case should have plenty of places to screw in standoffs. Pics?!
All fixed but I can't boot Windows because it's got the settings from my old mobo.![]()
Sometimes you get lucky with that, sometimes you don't. :/
Gonna have to scoot up to the office and grab my thumb drive
Thumb drive, doesn't work. I'm getting "a required cd/DVDs drive device driver is missing
Those 2 drivers are different. Make sure the USB ports are connected properly.
I ran into a somewhat similar problem on this z170 board. I reburned the images to the flash and it worked.
Hope that helps

USB is fine. I just burned the image to the thumb drive and got back home. What drivers are supposed to be on there? I just put the win7 image on the usb after making it bootable. I don't want to go all the way back to the fucking office again.
I honestly couldn't tell you. We built virtually the same damn pc. I just went through this exact situation 2 days ago. I have 2 win 8.1 USB sticks and 1 win 10. None of them worked til I reimaged them.

Did you use NTFS or FAT32?
Ntfs

:\ Hmmm
gonna have to try another solution on Monday when I get back into the office.
I'm not sure what drivers I'm missing on the thumbdrive though.
Wish you luck. I know how frustrating this could be

Do you happen to be installing onto an SSD?
For what little it's worth, I had a similar problem putting Win10 on a new machine with an SSD. Told me or didn't have some proper drivers to install onto the SSD from a fresh format, so I had to install onto the HDD, automatically update to find whatever drivers, then install on the SSD, boot from that, Windows update, and reformat the HDD.
Think I ended up having to install Windows like 6 times overall to get it to work.
don't use 3.0 usb, sometimes causes that error
I only have the SSD to work with. I've been using only the 2.0 USB slots after googling the problem.
Also make sure to have a cocktail on hand. My vast experience of building and drinking has shown its better this way.
