Yeah. I'm between getting a 27" 4K Monitor and just playing 1440p on it for now or going UW/Dual Screen 1440p. The prices aren't that far off but until I get the right price on a 1070/1080 I'm gonna sit on buying.

I honestly haven't been gaming much outside of some Civ 5 and WoW with the GF. Nothing very intensive.

I play mostly wow so it was a tough decision between 4k and uw, I had a big budget which made the decision a lot easier. It's really hard to choose without playing on them or at least seeing them in front of you.

Well, my X34 arrived and this past weekend I went ahead and built an i7-6700k/GTX 1070 machine. Loving the results so far!

So after a long assed delay, paying off a vacation last month, etc. I finally have the time/money to build myself another gaming/entertainment rig, but I forgot most of what I studied up on. So any good guides on what to look for when browsing components?

Reading back the last few pages, plus the last few pages of the nVidia next gen cards thread, should tell you everything you need to know.

Just read through and got a few ideas for the GPU.

Anyway, for cooling how easy is it to install liquid cooling for the CPU now? When I build this computer about 5 years ago they looked pretty bulky or expensive as all hell. Wondering if they're more manageable in terms of installation/pricing.

Depends on the route you're interested in going. Instead of deciding on specifically which parts your looking for, find out (and shit, I'd like to know too) what your overall aim is. Mid-range multitasking machine with gaming/multimedia or dat Budget spec or some super spec freak of Man/Machine.

For your question though you have AIO (All-in-one) coolers that include the radiator, fans and block. AIOs are decently priced and go on sale pretty often on Newegg at least. Custom loops are a bit higher end in terms of difficulty and cost. Been personally watching a lot of videos on water cooling and it doesn't SEEM tedious as it is nerve wrecking lol

I'm still browsing around but my main goal is to build a new PC from the ground up that can go awhile without needing any upgrades. I'm still brainstorming what I want other than that. Only thing I can say is my budget is 2000 which is probably overkill, but getting a new monitor as well.

Was thinking of water cooling since my current machine puts out a lot of heat and makes my room a bit toasty.

you could also get the cheaper H50/60/65/80/100(i)/110(i)[GTX] corsair variants that are quite popular

    Welp here it is.

    Already have a 1080, some ssd's, and X34.

Went with that cooler over corsair or noctua/cryorg air after a ton of research and rgb and cleanliness.

Not a PC build, but didn't think it warranted own thread.

I am looking to buy a very small, very basic laptop or netbook pretty much solely for when I am on call for work. My current personal laptop is a MONSTER and lugging it around everywhere with me is a pain and setting it up and using it in smallish spaces is pretty much a no-go. New laptop just needs to be something I can whip out, log in, and get work done wherever I am. I haven't looked at laptops for a few years and pretty much never looked at small ones as I've worked in computational power intensive work for the past 6-7 years. Reviews are either not helpful or non-existent at a lot of options I've looked at, so was hoping for some input here.

    Requirements:
    Small ( < 14" preferably)
WIFI enabled (not really an issue these days?)
Either comes with some linux OS or is a model that is known to not be a pain in the ass to uninstall existing OS and install linux on.
    < $250 preferably
Enough ram to handle more than a few internet tabs open at once
    Reliable / sturdy

Essentially all I need to do on it is to whip it out, ssh into work computers, and get work done quickly. May also use it to work on some code in off hours as well if I have an idea or something but eh. I just want some linux machine that is small, cheap, reliable, and with a good wifi card. I narrowly avoided fucking something up big this weekend because I didn't bring my laptop to my GF's because it's so giant and "nothing is gonna go wrong I'm not gonna need it before Sunday night" and of course something went wrong Sunday morning and I was lucky a coworker was around to cover.

Look into Dell Outlet, Sath. Tons of cheap inspirons that fit your criteria.

Boyieee, why the thermal paste? I'm pretty sure the kraken will have some preset on the cooler (but i can't tell you tbh, so eh)
similarly, you can get cheaper Win7/8/10 on reddit if you're into USB installs.

This was a great idea, thanks. Got a brand new inspiron for $150 and free 3-5 day shipping (was only 1 left in stock so I just pulled the trigger). Can't really complain with $150 for a computer.

Let me know how that AIO works for you. It was a choice to get earlier but I didn't have the money to put up.

My last AIO from corsair I hated with a passion and have been a noctua homer ever since but it's been a LONG time and figured I'd try a newer updated model for a change.

PC Build Advice/Review II: 1070 or Bust.

    Question:
    https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UD68-P-2.../dp/B01CH9ZTI4

Best Buy has this on sale for 399.. I'm thinking of nabbing it up since it doesn't seem like a bad deal. Thoughts?

I'm still rocking a single 970 though so I'm not sure if its worth it to upgrade the monitor before the GPU
