I have a 1700x and I'm happy with it. I can't say I see any true real world difference or a benchmark that would put it over it's Intel rival. However, something that is kind of neat is many people have received R5 1600 chips that are actually 8 cores. It's on /r/amd a bit. The issue with Ryzen however is ram compatibility for 3000+ actually achieving that. So if you're only getting DDR4 2800 or less than it's no worry. But my G.Skill 3200, I can only hit 2800 currently. I haven't fiddled with overclocking it though.
