Got to watch a little bit off and on yesterday and caught the end of the Link's Awakening run. I'm looking forward to seeing the recordings later.

I turned it off during day 1 because "playing" Metroid Prime by jumping through walls and glitching through a game is the least exciting thing to watch as a viewer. I know it's all very precise movement and clipping and jumping but that doesn't change the fact that you're watching broken textures and/or the floor as they maneuver and manipulate their position in the game.

Technically impressive, but extremely dull to witness if you're not into it.

This is how I tend to feel about a lot of runs. I'd rather see stuff played legit than breaking the game (or utilizing knowledge of such).

Gonna have to watch this SotN stuff, it'd seem.

I think that's mostly an artifact of it being a slower, larger game. Metroid Prime speedruns aren't generally as "neat" to watch. Clipping and glitch exploitation can be quite entertaining - Link's Awakening Reverse Boss Order comes to mind. Honestly, different "styles" of speedruns appeal to different people. I know there's a fair amount of skill that goes into 3D platformers but it kinda bores me compared to fast-moving 2D games.

In general the Vs races are da best IMHO.
