if it's going to cost you that much to move, i would seriously reconsider what all you're bringing with you. Furniture is easy to replace. Hell, even a whole new bed might be cheaper than lugging the whole thing around.

clothes, linens, knicknacks, electronics, hobby stuff. that's the stuff you want to keep. if you're seriously emotionally attached to your larger furniture, storing it would be better. you're not gonna be able to fit much in that room.

i wouldn't try to make a loveseat work. try to arrange it so the bed can be used as a couch, then buy some firm cushions you can just throw on the bed any time you want to use it as a couch.

Moving more than just clothes cross-country is just that expensive. Full stop. I'm not willing to save $300 by towing my car which I love far more than my own life. I would have to try to sell 90% of the stuff I've acquired and use over the past 12 years and that is 100% not worth it to shave $1000 off $10-11k. Moving just a tiny studio worth of stuff 2000 miles is still like $1500.

Remember that I'm not like 24 just fresh out of college. I'm 30, have been married and divorced, etc. I have a life and a life's worth of things. I'm willing to set some stuff aside to make room to live in the studio but I'm not going to craigslist/curb my entire life to save a few bucks when I'm going to a steady, well-paying job.

Also random dudes are gonna sit on my bed as a couch in their fucking dreams. I'm not on board with that shit. That's my bed.

That's sorta been my thinking to be honest. It's 400 sqft. I dont WANT people to want to hang out at my place. We can go out or go to their place. Even when single I prefer to go back to a girl's place so I can leave whenever the fuck I want. All I want is a space I can be comfortable in.

Where I'm at now I have about 1800 sqft and I think I've had people over 4 times in 2 years?

then scrap the loveseat, the special cushions, all of it. If you're comfortable watching TV/playing vidya from your bed, do that. if not, a recliner would be a good choice.

Also, I wasn't suggesting you get rid of everything. Mostly just furniture, as that's the bulky, easily replaced stuff.

    Good news!

I guess because credit score / other shit they run on application check they are waiving the last month rent up front (maybe it's for younger people with less history paying high rent?). And SD is $500 instead of $1000-2000. Saves me $3500 off the figures I've been working with for a while now.

As someone who has done the no W/D vs a W/D I would recommend keeping it in unit instead of using the space for something else. Taking a couple hours out of a day to do laundry 1-2x a week is a lot of time. 40 minutes of travel to and from plus the time for doing the laundry is a lot compared to dumping it in the machine before bed and switching it to the dryer before work in the morning.

yeah, i do my laundry at my parents' house, which is like 2 blocks away. we have on-site shared w/d, but it's coin operated so fuck that poor tax shit. plus it's in the other half of the building, so i'd need to literally walk right past my car to use it.

    in-unit w/d ftw.

I really have had to buy and sell W/D multiple times to the point that I'm over it. I think in past 6 moves I went apt-supplied WD -> buy W/D for apt -> sell W/D cuz apt-supplied -> apt-supplied -> buy W/D -> sell W/D and buy stack W/D since thats all that will fit -> sell W/D.

GF thinks from looking at pictures that the apts may supply W/D, which if so is fine and I will use them. If it's just hookups, I'm not buying W/D any time soon.

Apartment life is very inconsistent when it comes to W/D vs. just hookups vs. communal W/D.

i have to think they are supplied. But you could just call. You could also take the door off and open up a few square feet from where the door would normally need to swing

In-unit W/D is god tier and the only acceptable practice. Doing laundry while naked on Sundays is a beautiful experience.

~8 hours sitting is not enough for mildew. also i took that to mean "while you're getting ready for work so you can wear freshly dried clothes" which is always a plus
