I know, I saw it. But it DOES say "starting at $249".
Thanks Ark. That's the one.
Wow I totally missed that when searching Newegg earlier. I was looking at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125871
Think I'm going to order the one Ark linked.
edit: Whoa....no backplate....hmm...
It's sold out.
Yep, I'd have expected them to mostly be in stock by now, but NOPE.JPG
Can still back-order! I guess I shouldn't really care about the backplate since I'll be water cooling it. idk...
BACKPLATES LOOK COOL. So obviously you want one.
No backplate, no deal.
I THINK the one I bought for $409 has a backplate?... I kinda forget. I doubt you'd want that one anyway, it's got a blower-type cooler.
Well, the most important thing about my video cards is they have to look SEXY because when I'm gaming, I'm really looking at my video cards.
Duh, everyone knows that.
1060 doesn't have SLI support, that really fucking sucks since 2 1060s would be pretty fucking hot PPI for 1440p and lower
Adding to their own statement of offering more single gpu solutions, that's what the 1070 is for.

They want to stop people from SLI'ing low end and buy more high ends. Makes sense from a greedy perspective.
I don't get the no 3 way SLI for high end though. Even though there have alwaays been severe diminishing returns on 3 way SLI and up. Stops you from selling that extra card.
I'd say it makes sense from the angle of keeping things simple as well. Multi-GPU solutions tend to have more potential problems accompanying less consistent results. If they have a single card that can do the job, it's fairly logical that they'd want to push consumers towards that instead. Far as I've seen, that's the general market mentality anyway.
My guess would be that it's just cost-cutting. Implementing and optimizing SLI isn't free, so maybe they're just reducing things to support the most common use cases.
Yeah. The cost-benefit for something that a tiny minority of customers use seems pretty obviously.
And like I've parroted quite a few times, if developers start using DX12's multi GPU functionality SLI and Xfire will both be completely useless anyways.
They likely WON'T since it allows AMD and Nvidia cards to work in harmony and the green side would never let that happen, but we can dream.
